SMG gearbox oil should be changed every 3rd oil service along with diff oil. So every 3rd oil service is a big one. Had mine changed at Stephen James BMW Ruxley.

As above. The SMG and diff oil changes cost me £300 from an indy, a lot of that cost is from the oils themselves which BMW charge ludicrous amounts for. I looked around but you can't get the oils cheaper online unlike the engine oil and nobody seems to know who the OE manufacturer is.

Their is no such thing as an SMG service. The only thing that Is part of the BMW service schedule is to change the SMG oil.

I had mine done on my M6 a few weeks before I sold it. I think it's every 3 service that it needs to be done.

Opie oils sells the gearbox oil and also the pentosin, which is in the actual high pressure hydraulic system which operates the clutch and the gear selector on the box. No rocket science. No need to change the actual pentosin, unless you have a reason - changin pump, accumulator or there is a leak...

Nope, plugs were around 30,000 miles away from a service and had been done about 4000 miles previously when I had bought the car from Sytner Leicester BMW.
