Neither of them look properly black to me. in direct sunlight Carbon looks dark blue and Sapphire looks a dark graphite grey

Carbon black because it's actually blue and looks nice when you see it at different angles. Really like carbon black!

Carbon Black looks lovely, but only when it's clean and the sun is out!

I've had both and love the pearl nature of CB. However, it does swirl very easily and looks carp before long unless you take care washing it. SB is a bit more forgiving.

Carbon black is my (biased vote)

On my 335i, was lucky to have the individual Ruby Black, instead of sapphire.

Same for me I really like Carbon black, had two black sapphire beemers and I didn't dislike the colour but much prefer Carbon black.

Cosmos black is my favourite BMW black. Current car 530i is carbon black which seems to swirl very easily but does look very nice when clean and on a bright day..

Carbon black has much more character and can really show the blue tint in the right light

Sapphire black tends to show a more grey hue. In terms of names and actual appearance, I always think they are the wrong way round!

Carbon black over Sapphire.

Carbon is very similar (just not as blue) as Azurite Black (which is gorgeous)

Agreed, I've had both, carbon black nicer when it's clean but doesn't stay that way very long. Sapphire black polishes up really nicely.

Looked at a Carbon black X5 - strange colour - liked it when it looked black, but not when it looked blue !
Ended up with individual Ruby Black - like it a lot more that I thought I would.

As an aside - is all new BMW paint soft ?

Just need to look at it and it scratches
