Got a test drive booked for a F80 M3 this afternoon, kind of hoping I don't like it as it will be a wrench to part with my E60 M5. My wife has never driven the E60 in over 3 years and won't drive it either which can be a pain sometimes. The M3 is almost 3 times the cost and will depreciate heavily.
Wouldn't be surprised if in 5yrs or so a tidy E60 M5 would be worth about the same as an F80 M3 - the engine has made it a future classic for sure and more chance of appreciation than depreciation these days!

Love it!! What an awesome spec.
Would be interested to hear the comparisons and why you changed.

Give it a few weeks and I'll post something up. The DCT gearchange is lightning quick. Suprised at how comfortable the ride was in the M3. Carbon brakes were a bit crap from cold, stabbed them once hard and then they were brilliant. I would be suprised if any other M3 has more spec as I've never seen one on the AUC site. Someone was test driving it when I arrived and I had to wait as they were running through figures car was possibly sold but then the guy went to look at a C63 and said he would phone back at the end of the day. I liked the test drive plus the wife drove it and liked it and I knew one with this spec wouldn't come up again local to me and the figures worked out so put a deposit on it as it was never going to hang around.

Excellent, do you run it with the Mondial warranty Pete?

We will have to have a meet up at some point, good to keep in touch.

Cheers
Simon

That's not strictly true; if you have the monthly warranty the new owner needs to start a new policy with Mondial. It's only the annual policy that is directly transferable.
