M2 - Service Package + Other questions
Discussion
I'm about to pick up my M2, and have been asked if I want the 5y service package at £999.
The salesman ahs suggested (rather improbably in my opinion) that it is going up to £8,000 this year, so I'm getting a bargain, but notwithstanding whether this is true, what do people think for the value at £1,000?
I do 2,500 - 3,000 miles a year, mostly on motorways, so am very light on servicing needs, but if it's what everyone does, and makes financial sense, then I may still get it.
Is there a 600 mile service, and how much is it?

At £999, not really. I very much doubt its going up to £8,000 (?!!) either...
First service is 1,200 miles. My dealer doing it for £260.
Then servicing is about every 18,000 miles or 2 years (depending on driving style). Another oil service first, so around £260-300. Second service in year 4 would be an inspection at around £595.
Not sure you're gaining anything tbh.

£8000 service plan!! did he say this with a straight face?
My old m135i was condition based servicing and didn't get it's first service until 2 years and 14k miles. Even then that was a basic oil and filter change. Next one wasn't due for another 2 years.. I don't agree with long servicing times but that is what they work to.
Agree with post above, I doubt you would save a great deal unless your doing the miles which you have said your not.

It'll be fastidiously serviced; exactly in line with BMW's recommendations...
As above, it'll do 2,500 to 3,000 miles a year, so I don''t think that it'll make any sense for me. It's not likely that I'll need to do any more than the running-in service, and may well only be keeping it six months.

Are you going to have your car fastidiously serviced or just "as indicated"?
Does the "service package" allow for annual or more frequent services to ensure that you get your money's worth?
If you have the service pack they will only honor the condition and time based service requirements as indicated by the car. If you want "extras", such as an annual oil change regardless of what the service indicator states, then they have to be paid for.Does the "service package" allow for annual or more frequent services to ensure that you get your money's worth?
I took the 5 year service pack when it was £800 and I expect to do 10-12K miles per year so it should cost in, but only if I do my predicted mileage.
I just picked up my M2 this morning.
Based on my mileage (similar to yours), my sales guy actually talked me out of taking it.
It's just moved from £800 for 5 years to £999 for (I thought a reduced) 3 for M2. If you're not doing 8-10k per year, I'd suggest leaving it.
£8k....hmmmmm.....

I put my money down and agreed the package back in November. I asked about the 2017 price increase, they said they would honour the price from November.
I didnt ask specifically about whether it was changing for 5 to 3 years. If it is for 3 years, I dont think I will be taking it.
I doubt they'll honour it, but good luck.I didnt ask specifically about whether it was changing for 5 to 3 years. If it is for 3 years, I dont think I will be taking it.
I agreed (but didn't pay) last Dec. It didn't carry over.

I picked up our M2 on March 4th and the sales guys offered me the service package at £800 over three years and I still didn't take it as we'll only be covering about 7,500 a year and he said it wasn't worth taking out. Also as others have said BMW will not honour the 5 year service plan. Like me you may get it offered for £800 but it is a 3 year service plan now.
