Haven't been watching the M5s myself but certainly for the M6 GCs, some of the prices people are looking for them, they will be here this time next year still for sale! Crazy.

Lots of utter ste turning up too. Steer clear of anything mapped, bmw tricolour grilles, carbon wrap, aftermarket steering wheels with shift indicators, wrong alloys or right alloys wrong tyres, etc.

You are right, some real nonsense.

I am half tempted now to just keep mine long term and assume its worth more to me to keep than any £ value of what someone might eventually want to pay for it if that makes sense. 50/50 now on what to do.....I have had it 5 years. Not interested in anything newer for 50k plus more cant justify that spend, wouldn't want to either. If it goes it will be for something smaller and more fun such as F56 JCW manual.

I'm watching the market as I'm probably going to buy either an M5 or M6 GC by the end of the year. As has been mentioned there's quite a lot of dross turning up at the mo.

Edit: was the M5 also facelifted in 2016 at the same time as the M6 GC?

I am daily driving mine, M6GC Comp. Maybe I am crazy but no. I could get a real life ( measured, not from computer readings) 25-29mpg from my 50 mile daily round trip as far as I never put the engine mode in Sport+. The sport mode only increases exhaust note without increasing throttle response or fuel consumption compared to the comfort mode.

Hey guys, glad I happened across this thread as I too am on the hunt for one of these wonderful machines. In fact I’ve just got home from a BMW Dealer having looked at a highly specified BMW Approved Ruby Black example. Truth is, I didn’t get very far with that particular car. In a nutshell the left side of the car plus front and rear bumpers have had paint at some point - perhaps not a huge surprise on a used car of this size but the quality of the repair was terrible. Lots of inclusions, overspray and worst of all sanding marks - most visible in the front left wing (below). The wheels have also been refurbished badly at some point too. Therefore I walked away, simple reason: although I’m told its still to go through prep, at £35k there simply isn’t enough money in that car to repaint two thirds of it to a good quality. Ruby black is not an easy colour to match either.
Other people may be fine with it, but its not for me. The search continues!

Just an update on my car - took it for a main service at Grosvenor BMW in Reading earlier this week.
5 years old next month, but only 16k miles. Garage insisted i didn't need a service for some items (plugs in particular) but i wanted them done anyway.

Whatever the new plugs, air filter , oil and filter, or combination thereof had as an effect, it feels like i have an extra 100bhp. Lumpiness when engine was cold has disappeared too ( i suspect 5 year old plugs and/or bunged up air filters).

Full speed ahead captain. Never owned a car that could set off the traction control in 4th gear before.

Not sure how you are driving or your car, but sport mode definitely increases throttle response on every model M5/6 I have driven, which includes every model from E39 onwards.

Is there any way to retrofit the infotainment to use Android Auto on an M6GC or is the iDrive too old? I have wirelss AA on my 840iGC and whilst I could live without the wireless part, I would miss it if there was no way to have it at all.

Not sure about android, but Apple CarPlay can be retro-fitted to earlier M6GC's so I'd assume android could be too?

I live just up the road from Grosvenor in Caversham, they have been looking after my M3 for the past decade.

I've always found them really honest and reasonable to deal with with some really good techs.

They also don't try to rinse you for unnecessary work, as you have found. Of course if you wanted new plugs that is your choice, customer is king!

I'm just chiming in to say that I've found them to be a really good indie and recommend them.

Yep i've used them for a few years now, seem reasonable price wise and don't follow the main dealer condition based servicing nonsense.

I'm in Spencers Wood so other side of M4.

I'm aware of a black M6GC in Reading - is that you?

All been very quiet on the M6GC front have you all hibernated smile.

Mine is now in the classifieds https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/14041896 as it's time for a change to a smaller car in size not necessarily in power. The favourite at present is an F-Type V8 AWD softtop (to compliment the other cars) plenty of choice - has anyone any experience?

I won't be too bothered if it doesn't sell it still puts a smile on my face in it and out of it and that's important to me.

Yes it’s very easy to do, Bimmertech and Integrated Automotive amongst others make kits.

I did this on my 650i and it works even better with the hi res screen in the later models.

On another note to the OP (or anyone) how was the switch from the 997 to the M6? I went the other way from a 650i to a 997 but often wonder about an M6GC
and I was in fact looking for one when the 997 came up.

Well i sold mine.

Loved the car, but it wasn't quite what i wanted.
Stupendously fast , but not actual fun. And to get thrills, you were ALWAYS driving well over the speed limit.

So it went back to Cotswold BMW and traded it in for an M240i.
Which after 2 weeks has already delivered more fun than the M6 did in 8 months.

Much of that is down to traction and roadholding. But the i6 is smoother than the V8, is far more responsive and you can use that power everywhere.
It's interesting being rearward biased 4wd, as you can feel power being fed to the front wheels in extremis.
Accelerating off a wet roundabout for example, the M6 wouldn't see which way the M240i went.

Also prefer being in a much smaller car too. I don't need passenger space.

So if someone wants a well looked after M6, it's at Cotswold BMW. Still only has 19k miles on the clock too.

I was perusing Autotrader earlier, some lovely blue m6s there.

I've wanted an m6 since I was a lad, but v10 r8 is literally double the price but that engine....
