Or is there a better (i.e. active) forum for (ideally UK-based) M3 Touring owners?
Over on the dark side of facebook, there is 'BMW M3 Touring G81 Global Group' which is very active, albeit not solely UK based.

Bump!!

Is this the most frustrating thread in PH M Power history?

Loads of very loud noise from loads of people who were definitely buying the car and had deposits down with dealers and then when the car was released…….. silence.

I’m really keen to know how the Touring is working out for real people as prices look to be getting closer to what I think is acceptable and I still think it’s the car I want next.

Did anyone else buy one?
And if I could be so bold, please don’t reply with your opinion on the car’s cost, either new or used. That’s been done to death.

Let’s hear from people who have owned one, please!!

It is a tad expensive I guess, perhaps that's it?!

I took delivery of mine in June. I have to say I absolutely love it, there really isn’t anything major I’d want to change. I’ve done a few cosmetic tweaks to make it mine but that’s about it. It’s such an accomplished M car that really can do it all. One of the surprises to me is how comfortable and supportive the carbon buckets are, I’ve done a few longer trips now and can honestly say I’ve got out at the end the most chilled I’ve ever been in a car, no hint of a numb bum.

I’ve also had so many positive reactions both when out and about and a few car meets I’ve attended. Here she is in all her glory, Marina Bay Blue, full Ivory, ultimate pack.

Starting to see some discounts coming through from dealers now on these - is anyone being offered discounts on factory orders yet ? - probably the best discount I’ve seen is an unregistered ultimate pack for £90k at Stafford.

Still not seeing any support on the finance though, 4.9% offered on the salon, 9.9% on touring.

The waiting continues 😂

I got mine on 13 October and have put 1100 km on it, in eager anticipation of the break-in service.

Having previously had 2 X3M I know the S58 engine quite well, and the surprise purchase of the M3 was only due to being offered it as a cancelled order arriving 6 weeks later, as I had dismissed it originally due to the quoted 12-18 months delivery time.

I have always wanted the C63/RS4 equivalent, and extremely pleased that BMW finally decided to go ahead with it. Rationally speaking, an X3M might even on paper be a better solution, but this does not translate into what a complete car the M3 is. Where the X3M felt lacking low down due to the torque curve, the M3 is ballistic. It rides much better, and the interior (with full leather) is quite a lot nicer. Looks is of course subjective, but where I originally hated the front, it works perfectly in the metal with the Touring body (mine is black, which possibly helps).

I have no doubt that it will not be the sales success that some predicted (whether it is down to looks, price or general lack of enthusiast love for high performance ICE cars) but I am extremely pleased that I have the chance to sample this - for my needs - perfect car.

A lot of cars coming in to dealers now and appearing on Autotrader at a discount, hopefully they stick around and the APRs come down.

BMW seem to value the cars a lot lower than their advertised prices. Enquired about one car and then got a part ex price from another dealer. £17k loss just to drive from one dealer to another.

I think they still need £10k off used with current finance rates. New seems to be getting 10% but needs 4.9% same as saloon.

I got mine in January. Just hit 10K miles. As per poster above I love it, very pleased all round, I really can't fault it.

Obligatory tip run pic;

Rugby tour transport;

Annoying puncture at 3 month old, luckily no rim damage;

Stablemate;

I saw my first one in the flesh the other day, they are tempting me however with the current high APR it would be a hard pill to swallow going from paying £550 p/m on a X3M to a £1200 p/m on a M3 touring.

Nice two car pairing.

What exhaust is that on the Murcielago?

Bikes...

Anyone putting their bikes inside their M3T (or any other 3T)? I'm interested in whether they fit OK or if there's constraints to be aware of.

Some content... I was going down the M340i route then saw how heavily depreciated the used M3Ts are, discovered insurance is same ball park and thought hmmmm I could afford that. BIG CHALLENGE is that many M340s have factory fit tow bar for a bike rack.

Want the M3, think the M340i might be more usable.

Thanks

I assume you mean push bikes?! I've had mine in the back of my G21 M340 with no issues at all with rear seats folded. Normally take front wheel off, lay bike in car rear wheel first (drive side up) and then shove in the front wheel. That's a 54cm (M) Scott Addict RC and a 52cm (S) Scott Foil for reference. Only had one in at any one time, but confident it would take two, with some tactical placing of bath towels! I'm as precious of my bikes as I am with my car biggrin

AFAIK the G81 would be the same internal boot dimensions

Takes mountain bikes with front wheels off easy, mine and my lasses on top of each other.

Road bikes go in one.
