I did the same as you pretty much. I did no homework and bought the 1st 1 I looked at (there was only 2 for sale in Lime Rock so not much choice).
I was also looking at a M3CS originally but decided the door cards, tail lights and the fact I didn't really like the 2 tone leather seats in the 3 swayed me towards the M4 variant. I usually keep a car 6-12 months but so far this 1 has been here 15 months and I have no plans to buy anything to replace it any time soon.
I've had 10+ M cars and this 1 is my favourite by far even over the E46 CSL
