you're quite right DT I just feel like countering the overly negative post(s) from Gary to say it seems like a lot of people do like it and a lot are parting with their cash. Sub or plus £60 K there's plenty of choice in this arena.

I woudn't put my money into one yet but as I mentioned in the 2nd post after Gary's it will grow on me over time I'm sure.

I think we should celebrate that BMW are still offering a 500 BHP petrol smallish car that's a joy to drive until the ghastly electric fad has died as it seems to be doing already.

Thankfully we all like something different and we shouldn't piss on someone's bonfire because they do.
Smallish? Same platform as M3 afaik.

They do look pretty big now that they are on the M3/4 platform I agree. It wouldn't put me off buying one, but they've definitely lost that compactness I reckon now though.

It’s a cracking thing and I was on verge of one. They are doing some sensible APR’s and usual BMW big discounts. £10k in and around £650

Compared to the current M4 it does feel a lot more compact in my view. I test drove both back to back on Friday and have now ordered the M2 in ZB, and as said BMW seem keen to do a deal, I got a cracking one at Cotswolds in Cheltenham. For reference I’ll be coming out of the F82 M4 and been fortunate enough to have had the previous 2 M3’s as well and I think this M2 beats them all, IMO of course wink

I also loved the looks of it from the outset and it’s even better in the flesh, proper aggressive fker especially in black but I just can’t cope with keeping that colour looking nice. I’m told the design is to appeal to the younger generation to get them in M cars but I’m an old git and love the looks

I'm hoping to replace the F82 M4 with a G82 M4 xDrive next year. However I think that I will definitely be in for a bit of a shock with the size/weight of the G82 M4 though. The current M4 weighs about the same as the old F13 640d I had(around 1800kg), and that was a proper boat in corners I thought. It certainly wasn't a car that encouraged you to throw it around for sure.

Yes it will be interesting, the M4 is a great car but I just felt a bit disconnected from it after the M2, and it does feel big in comparison, at least to me. The M2 literally made me chuckle but it does encourage your inner hooligan though, my wife commented a couple of times that if you’re not careful you’ll lose your license in this biggrin

It is a miracle that I've held onto mine in fairness too! High speed just gets me going for sure. I'm nowhere near as bad as I used to be, but these fairly powerful cars with only 2 pedals are a bit too easy to pile the speed on I reckon. driving

The weather is getting a bit better now as well, so you can get on the throttle a lot more too. biggrin

Had a drive of one of these last week. Absolutely fabulous drive and felt good annd made you feel good even when driving it without pushing on.
Took my 25 year old son with me who loves his BMW’s and his opinion was it looks fabulous (apart from the MSport carbon add ons) and is now his aspirational car. He’s in a modified 140i at the moment. A proper ASBO car if ever there was one.

Disliked the looks it first when pictures came out but in the flesh I think it looks fabulous. Has an amazing muscular look about it.
I wasn’t keen on the standard seats but loved the carbon buckets. For me the buckets were very comfortable with an immediately spot on driving position and made the car feel more of an event to be in. The demonstrator had the standard seats. Just felt a bit high in a similar way (but not to the same extent) to my GR Yaris.
Really impressed with the auto box as well with really snappy quick changes and great power delivery.
Really tempted to buy one as my fun, high days and European road trips car. Would also be used for the occasionally on a track day. If I had the M2 I would probably not track it to start with as I am a bit precious when I buy a new car and already have a dedicated track e36 M3, but 2 things are niggling at me

1) Depreciation is going to be a big hit

I have got about 7% off list without much pushing. A 13% (as someone mentioned earlier in the thread) discount would be impressive and probably push it over the line.

What other discounts have people got.

2) A really nice low mileage 981 GT4 is about the same £70k cost.

I drove a friends GT4 on a short handling circuit a few weeks ago and was blown away by it. It did have a few track based mods though and increased power.
Only concern is just how hard is the ride and how much of a pain in the arse is that low splitter. I would have to have some wood bits to get it onto my steep drive without scraping(although it would be garaged elsewhere without that problem) and speed bumps are everywhere by us.
Feedback from those with both cars would be appreciated.

If you haven't already, I'd recommend emailing Tony Lewis at Berry BMW.
I've ordered a G81 with him and it couldn't have been more straightforward - emailed him my spec and within an hour or two had a quote back with their discount and an actual price, no asking what monthly I want, no extra products on top or that the car needs to be registered by the end of the month to get the deal etc.

That was a factory order at ~10% off so you might see a better deal on a stock car with a dealer if you're prepared to sit through all usual pantomime at these places.

I had a testdrive with an M2 automatic this afternoon in the Netherlands, I`ve driven all previous generations (E46 M3, E92 M3, E82 1M, F87 OGM2, F87 M2CS, I aso used to have a 718 GT4 PDK)

Currently for daily driving I have a fabulous GRY, for the weekend I have a 718 GT4RS.

The G87 M2 is better IRL then I thought, I found the standard seat less supportable, I do have a fairly small waist. The leather was to slippery imho.

The steering is very direct on initial steering input, I do like that on Bimmers in general. Engine superb, the auto box is doing what it should do, but a little remote fort my taste, the car is comfortable and has road compliance beyond belief, it`s almost Porsche level. Smooth, very smooth, but cornering very good en hiding its 1725 kg very good.

Driving fast you have really no speed feeling, you don't notice the sometimes ridiculous speeds your driving.

The DigiDash has an "sensory overload " to it, with anoying warning sounds, it can put for sure in the settings menu, but you have to do again when starting the car. I prefer old skool round dials, far more intuitive for my taste.

What a major let down was the breaking, very spongy and a very soft pedal feel, I tried different settings but it remained spongy with very little feel to it. I`m curious if this recognized with current M2 owners?

The car is also a heavy fuel consumer, with a small tank volume, not the best set up.

In a strange way this car drives just beautiful when cruising around, it doesn't quite invite you for hooligan driving style, it surly can go fast, but it doest need to to to experience how nicely this car is.

Afterward I drove home with my GRY, the brake pedal feel is instant and a very hard and solid pedal feel to it. This is how it should be imho.

For a daily driver htis a very good car, but the fuel consumption, slippery seats and the break pedal feel, I will try a 240iX for comparison as a dd, maybe les sporty, but maybe less is more as a dd.

Greetings from the Netherlands

Rob

57.5k is better than I managed.

Looking mine was discounted to £59,300 including tax.

Yet to sign finance docs as its 6 weeks away so wonder if the contribution is a new thing.

Hi.

No, I think the deposit contribution has finished now.

The apr was high 8.9 %

They have reduced the apr now so they withdrew the finance contribution.

I would say it's probably less than the depreciation + the opportunity cost (at say 3.5%) if you owned it for 2 years.
