UGLY UGLY UGLY CAR,however I'm due to test drive one soon see how that goes should be good from feed back I've had already!!!!!!!!!!!

Check out the quality. It was shocking on early Z4's. I test drove a 3.0 about 3 years ago. Apart from the unacceptable bone-shaking ride, the scuttle shake was out of this world. My brother bought one a little while later, but rejected it after two days on the basis that it was not fit for use.

You could see daylight between the hood and the door windows (among other things). Then when he took it back, the salesman came out to have a look, got in it, and the door handle fell off. The salesman then agreed that they were not good cars, but also said not to quote him on that.

Oh yeah it's also fugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not going to be a popular car i take from this thread?

What are the alternatives at this price point?

We're talking about a two seater sports coupe with lots and lots of power.

Cayman (S), sure.

(but that doesn't even have limited slip diff!!)

Any others?

(TVR arguably too unreliable, sorry)

Cayman S is significantly more expensive, especially once you have a few options, there's the Lotus Europa but it doesn't seem very popular.

Personally I think the Z4 MC looks absolutely fantastic, it has the kind of look you would expect from a car with 343bhp and designed to drive, which is why I’ve just bought one.

I think the mixed opinions that the Z4 MC seems to be receiving are mainly down to:

A. Children that write things like (a performance bargain in about 3 years time...around the £10k mark...when there's zillions of them). When they clearly have done absolutely no home work on the Z4 MC (BMW are only bringing 200 of these cars to the U.K. this year, bit rarer than a Caymen S me thinks).
B. And people that would clearly spend their hard eared on car that breaks down within minutes of ownership (very strange).

I thought Piston Heads was a forum for people who enjoy cars and driving them, then when a car like the Z4 MC gets built people slate it when it’s clearly designed for one purpose to DRIVE.

As mentioned, the supply is restricted and you only need to do a search to see how hard they are to come by, i have had 2 dealers looking for decent demo/low mileage used examples since sept and nothing has come along as yet, i think they're stunning and if you don't need 4 seats, the perfect M

Possibly the first bmw I'd like to own. The only downsides are the silly m badge and hideous corporate snout. The rest looks fine.

You forgot C. People who like their cars to look good as well as go fast.

Yes, yes, so a Z4MC fits the bill.

The Z4R did little for me right from launch but the transformation, looks wise, once a roof had been added was enough to get my juices flowing and I eventually bought my Z4MC in October '07. Now I have flicked through these pages for over a year now and have collated all of the relevant information and in conclusion have realised that I would more than likely have bought one of these cars no matter what the general consensus may have been ( unless not ONE single person had vouched in favour ) but one thing that does strike me is that I feel we will not be seeing too many cars like this emerging over the years to come as EU legislation and wot not get tighter and tighter and, for me at least, that makes this type of car rather special and gives it a certain uniqueness that is yet to be realised and appreciated yes

Ok Ok everybody, let's put the record straight, the Z3 M Coupe is great if you like that BMW estate rear end, not exactly imaginative or aerodynamic is it. As for 450chim whos says it is "UGLY UGLY UGLY" he is still going to test drive it..hmmm explain that to me if you would!

So why do I have the right to comment, well I bought a new one yesterday after taking it for a test drive and BMW kindly allowing me to keep it for a weekend due to the fact I was paying cash for it, I love everything about it from the moment i saw it, to getting in the snug cabin and then onto the road. Ugly it aint, carefully and brilliantly though out and constructed it very much is, the power is progressive when you want it to be and aggressive when you need it to be, the 50:50 weight distribution is evident on tight corners and any speed, the sport button tightens up the ride and gives faster gear change reponse and much much greater throttle response with no less of enjoyment and no skittishness whatsoever.

Arch52 has it absolutely spot on, having owned a honda s2000 and test drove a nissan 350z i'll take my new BM anyday and will continue grinning like a cheshire cat . I'm planning on taking it to a silverstone track day soon and then i'll really see what a blast this is, although I think i get the idea already.

I wholeheartedly recommend you take it for a test drive before an uneducated and uninformed opinion!!!

WOW!!!
