I've been considering replacing my wifes 911 for a Z4MC as we've always loved the shape as it's about the only individual car out there at the moment.

However, why oh why did BMW think it wise to put the aerial in the rear wing?????? (not interested in electrical interference...that could easily have been overcome) It ruins the lines and makes it look quite old fashioned. Whenever I look at one, all I see is this cheap looking aerial!

Is there a fix for this? Has anyone stuck a shark fin on the roof?

Quite seriously, as it stands it's enough to stop me buying one!

It's an american thing.. The Z3's wewre exactly the same. You can buy a shorter one.

ur right it's one of the most individual cars out there. Luckily I don't see many of them up here..Thank god..Unlike caymans and boxster which are 'ten/two a penny'

It's certainly got the best lines and when the sun's out it the bangle flamed design looks fantastic.

We've had 2 Z3MC's and the aerials on those are at the back of the roof, which IMO looks much better.

You can buy replacement aerials on the interweb for about ten quid and they look a lot better. The thread below has a few pics in it

I've a short stubby on mine. I must admit the old one loked a bit crap, but surely not enough to put you off buying.

If you liked your old breadvans you'll like the new one too. just make sure you factor the new wheels into the deal.

Is that the same Shunt that used to be on Z3MCoupe website???? If so how are you enjoying the Z4MC in comparison? I'm still a bit wary about changing from a 911...call it a bit of snobbery perhaps but am aware that the MC would be a much newer car.

Same one mate, I also nearly went down the porker route. some mates have similar value 911's the running costs are horrific in compafison to the MC.

As soon as the Z4MC was released I knew my Alpina would get swapped.

Go take one out, they're similar to the old one but a bit more easy to live with.

I'm so indecisive. I love the look of the MC but the 911 still betters it on alot of fronts;

Warranty is not only cheaper, but porsche don't charge a 250 excess for a claim!
Servicing is cheaper.
Dealerships are much much better.....BMW would get 2/10 Porsche 9.5/10.
Fuel economy is about the same.
Insurance is cheaper.
Road Tax is cheaper (only pay £205 wheras MC would be at least £400)
We can still use the back seats should we need too.

And yet I'm still drawn to the individuality of the Z4MC!

Edited to add the bit about the warranty excess. I think this has just made my mind up actually!

The aerial is unfortunate but indicative of the car's soft-top routes.
