I am a fan of the e30 M3 and have nearly bought one on a couple of occasions, something else has come along as the M3's I looked at weren't really up to standard.
I have no problem with their price, they actually look reasonable compared to other niche cars,,,

What does wind me up is this homologation special lark....sure, I understand the concept, but the E30 M3 is ever so slightly diluted, electric windows, sunroof, often leather trim....these factors and the huge number built, lead me to conclude they will never be worth mega bucks.....doesn't stop it being a great car though smile
Mine has no sunroof or electric windows or aircon or leather or headlamp washwipe as standard out of the factory, oh and it also has factory fitted recaro buckets which was an option in 89 so some are not as diluted as you think.

Right then guys, I'm at a cross roads with my car and feel it's time to move on. I dont have the means to keep this car the way it should (no garage/ no other car to used for commute) and offering someone else the chance to own a great M3!

Spec;

late spec 215bhp model built on the 11/1990( one of the very last!) diamond Black 186k kilometres (115k miles)
Evo2 chin spoiler, Evo3 rear with CF flap.(or std one your choice!)
7.5/8.5x17" Genuine AC Schnitzer typ1's 3pc splits (in need of a refurb)
New falken F452's all round
Full Black Evo3 recaro interior(Brand new 18months ago)
CF 48mm long runner DTM airbox running a Dastek UniQ+ ecu mapped to run on V-power.
Full Miltek Exhaust.
Schrick 284/276 cams
Front and rear ASA strut braces. Koni shocks/springs
Smoked Hellas (plus originals)

In the 2 years I've owned it most of the above has been done. Plus the car has had 2 oil changes using Castrol edge 10w60.
It's had an insp2 and a full shim replacement and adjustment at a reputable BMW indy garage.
All new OEM dics's and pads with fronts groved by http://www.godspeedbrakes.com 10 months ago. DOT 5 brake fluid.

Next week the car is going to http://www.alsaautomotive.org.uk/ to have a 5p size bubble sorted on the scuttle and a bit of bubbling on the rear reg plate lights, I'm also gonna get him to remove the sideskirts and check/treat/waxoil and repaint the sills and gloss the sideskirts. ALL his work is top notch (he will be doing before/during/after pics for my records) and comes with a 6 year warranty.
Oh! Car has roughly 10 months mot left too!

Any questions please feel free!

It'll be a good 2 weeks before I officially advertise it on pistonheads etc.. so this is your chance to get in first!
I'm looking at no less than £12k BUT if you wanted I could replace the seats with std ones and maybe offer it for £11250.

Does the E30 M3 have ABS?

Im guessing from the pics Ive seen no Airbags? It just seems like a great daily driver and will not cost you much to run given low depreciation.

hmm sounds great.

So stats are 215bhp from the 2.5ltr 4 cylinder unit and it red lines at 7500rpm?
Abs
LHD
Sports seats
Discs all round

What sort of money should you be paying for one? I dont mean concours but a good honest straight example. Buying the cheapest around may result in many repairs hence better buying one that has had lots of work done on it.

2.3l is 215-220bhp

the 2.5l gave 238bhp, and they only made 500 of those

any where between 12-15k for a good example, 10-12k for fair

I wouldn't spend less TBH

Ok so for the price of a brand new Fiesta 1.4 TDCI L you could have a nice (Black, Silver or Red) E30 M3....

Fiesta with 60k and 3 years old will be worth what.... £4.5k? If I added 60k in 3 years to the M3 and thats Miles not Km and its price was £11k what might it be worth?

not too sure as the batteries in my crystal ball have run out

what I can say is you'll have far more fun in it than a fiesta

600 (VIN 79000-79599) plus the 2 in silver and infamous two higher output (260BHP) white cars.

I don't think you'd really want to do 20K miles/year in an E30 M3...would anyone!?!

when I started my new job I had a reasonable budget which would have afforded me an e30 m3 plus a decent fighting fund

the running costs just put me off

The thing is though at the end of the day even though it has racing pedigree etc its a car and should be able to cope with 20k a year which is only 385 miles a week. Are the seats a little uncomfy for the longer drive?

I used to tuse my E30 every day and it was fine, Running cost were low as things like disc and pads are cheap and in does reasonable MPG.

Drove it to france etc and never had any problems. I bought it 5 years ago for £5.5K as it had a couple of rust bubbles and the guy was moving to the states.

Started stripping it yesterday as its off for a bare metal respray in a couple of weeks and with a few more jobs done at the same time should be a very clean example in a couple of months.

Can't wait to get it back on the road

Yeah...I didn't mean so much in terms of the cars coping with it or the running costs (although 20K miles per year for the next three years in any 20 year old car is a bit of an ask?).

I meant more that could one cope with doing what is quite a high mileage (?) like that every year in an E30 M3? Owned mine for about 6 years and I know I couldn't have coped with doing the really long journeys that 20K miles/year would involve in one. Perhaps I'm too old now! frown

Totally agree.

If you did 20K pa in an M3 the only thing you would harm is the value if you started off with a low mileage minter, and if you started off with a higher mileage car then you would have the assiciated maintenace bill which will be more than a Ford Focus or similar, but the M3 would be so much more fun to drive.
