In my veiw a totally viable Daily drive!
Totally agree.

If you did 20K pa in an M3 the only thing you would harm is the value if you started off with a low mileage minter, and if you started off with a higher mileage car then you would have the assiciated maintenace bill which will be more than a Ford Focus or similar, but the M3 would be so much more fun to drive.
Im assuming buy one with 100k miles and then just keep adding 20k a year to it. Replace parts when they fail and service it per the servicing schedule

Or else you could buy my 1990 Diamandschwarz m3 with only 75k miles (124000kms)
Absolutely time-warp condition with no rust etc..
Here's a link to the ad....

These cars are getting on in age.
If you buy a car with circa 100k miles, you would be advised to renew the bottom end shells immediately.

In a nutshell you would buy the best one you can afford, then spend some more for preemptive fettling of the engine and suspension.
After that you have a nice reliable daily driver for 100k miles.

As far as comfort is concerned.
I also have the US spec E36 M3 and the sport "Vader" seats in that car kill me before 100 miles. The E30 M3 seats are much more comfortable.

They have two sump's, upper and lower, lower is very easy to remove upper is bit more involved but will need to be removed to access the shells, clearence being the issue with engine in place, either requires engine to be raised or rack removed IIRC.

I would renew cooling system as well if there is no evidence of this having been done recently.
