Ahh.. you mean like creating an M estate? Gosh I guess that is just as degrading to the M Divisions true sentiments as well rolleyes

i was going to say the same about M = motorsport.

at least the estate M cars were based on CARS, and retained much if not all of their saloon equivalent's ability.

I know the game has moved on, cars have become bigger and heavier, but what the hell, my idea of what an M car should be is the original m3 or the e36 that followed, or the original m5

no huge levaithons needing 400 + hp to perform. its crazy.

edited to add - Theres clearly a market for these silly 'off road' super panzers, so bmw would be silly to ignore it, but for me its a shame they used the M badge smile

great... a massive pointless car. why would anyone want one? oh i know because women like to be in huge cars so they can feel important and not EVER let anyone out at junctions, and fat cats with small cocks need them to feel less inadequate and a bit more potent. tyres will only be around £300 each and will last about 4 roundabouts, and the 10mpg on a run is awesome economy. it will never be sporty because of the high centre of gravity but hey at least it will do 140+mph at 5mpg due to its great aerodymaic properties.

WHY?
The day I can afford one I will so enjoy caning it past you and your miserable anti 4x4 militia.

And how does that differ from a normal Supercar?

Better equip them all with 1.9 TDI's and Pirelli 6000's then.
erm..... it differs from any other supercar by not being a supercar.

The article didnt say is was going to be an M version, just that it would sell as well! I would expect it to be more of an i.S version, like the old 4.8iS X5

Or like the 130i M Sport which isn't a true M car.

You can - you can shove a fashionable badge on it and sell it for loads of money to shallow fools. Proven marketing technique...

there is obviusly a market for these things! as porsche, merc and Rangerover have all had lots of sucess with them so if i was bmw i would make one as no doubt it will make them lots of money.

BUT! I realy just dont see the point of the X6! why take the big X5 and lower the roofline and reduce the number of seats!!?? its completely pointless! wats next? a coupe MPV, used to have seven seats but a company lowers the roof takes some seats out and charges more money for it!!

Personaly im a Range Rover/Land Rover man, i realy dont see the point of buying a 4x4 with no off-road ability watso ever!! I know most 4x4's dont go off road..but my point still stands...if your not going off-road or towing but want a large car buy an M5 touring or equivalent, if you are going to go off road or need to tow caravan/horse box etc buy a Land Rover!

If plastering body kitted diesels with the once-legendary M\\ logo wasn't bad enough, they are now going to prostitute the brand further by peppering the logo all over a 4mpg, 2 tonne, 20" wheeled, footballer cock extension. They should be ashamed.
Well said but the people that drive these need an extension !!!

Hey, nobody HAS to buy it.

Having driven just about every M car made (except the M1 - still on wish list)I think we should give the R&D boys from BM some scope to play around.

It is not like this was ever going to be anything other than a niche car.............

BMW do road cars, none of the X series is capable off road so everyone should know where they stand, this is an extension of a styling excercise. Just be grateful that it isn't legislated out of existence.

Oh and have a go if it is offered. I will be.

There are groups of people out there who LIKE the brand BMW who will actually WANT a car like this, why should BMW lose their customers to others like Mercedes and Porsche who are all doing this already? Its common sense...

And to those of you that are moaning about the fuel consumption, the tyres costing lots blah blah blah etc etc etc... DONT BUY ONE AND YOU WILL HAVE NOTHING TO MOAN ABOUT - ITS CLEARLY NOT MEANT FOR YOU IS IT!!!

you didn't read the review on here then about how the thing handles....it's amazing for such a big car.
