I was driving my E46 M3 and the battery light came on, I headed for the newest Halfords thinking I needed a new battery. Within about three miles, the car had lost all power and I had to park it. I then went to Halfords to get a new battery. When I was changing it I managed to lock the keys in the boot, if you take the battery out it automatically locks the car so be careful!!

Anyway once the battery was replaced the car started but the battery light is still on. I now realise that infact I needed to change the alternator. Does any know how much an alternator is for an M3, what's the chance of Halfords refunding me for the battery back as I don't think there was anything wrong with the old one?

Thanks

tell halfords it doesnt fit in the battery area of your car and you think you need a 'special' battery from the dealer?

should be able to get a full refund as long as you have your receipt smile
