Picked the Z up from West Tuning @ 20:30 Friday evening and drove it 85 mls home and I must say it felt like a different animal. It was tight and precise, steering felt a lot more direct and the suspension although it was stiffer, was not as choppy as standard and felt so much more planted yes
The Pagids felt bang on and if anything seemed better from cold V standard ( nearly nutted the screen first time I used them as I was expecting them not to work as well as the standard pads! ). When I got home I swapped the 18" Compomotive MO's from my e36 ( some may know the car as 'Kylie' ) as they have Yokohama AO48's on them that have only done 1 X track day and that was at Goodwood too funnily enough. The ET's on the rims were 38 and 45 front to back and although I did a fair bit of measuring beforehand I was not able to trial fit beforehand due to the car being at Rays for a week longer than anticipated. I went out for a test drive and there was a slight rub coming from the rear O/S but it was very light and sporadic and I decided that it was probably the arch liner and packed a jack so that I could investigate further once things got under way. All done before midnight and ready to go.

Started off with good intentions but found myself trying too hard, too soon. Got told off for overtaking 2 X cars whilst the red flags were out ( I didn't see them, honest! ) and the next two sessions I was struggling although I didn't really know why. Went past some pals of mine just past the pits and was probably going to quick around the first corner, Madgewick, and got a tank slapper on just before Fordwater headache Front wheels on the grass going sideways took out a yellow sign, jinked left then right and back on the track! How lucky was that ?
In the third session had another moment just out of the Chicane ( it was that bloke SSS, he suggested trying the car without the DSC on ). It must have looked bad as the Marshall's were jumping over the wall to safety redface
The big cheese had a word with me and suggested that I wind it in a little. The afternoon was a lot better and I progressively felt more at ease but I think that the tyres were not at their best as they are over two years old and a new set will be acquired soon.
I now have a bench mark too as a pal turned up in the afternoon and un-be known to me, timed a few laps. The best was 95 secs with an average of about 97 secs. Nothing was getting away from me and I managed to pass all I caught.
Snetterton on the 22.9.08, cant wait thumbup
