Ok Guys, i have been looking around and i am finding it difficult locating the car i want.

Looking to spend about 23k

What age, mileage etc should i be looking at ideally ?

I really want a white one. Are there many about ? Should i pay a premium ?

I have seen an 06 30k one for £24999, dealer will go down to 23 but wont offer me much px wise.

Thanks

There's not as many around right now, but that'll change.. white will always be tougher to find, but don't pay a premium. 06 plate cars with pro nav are about 23 from an AUC dealer and '08 cars are 27-28k, right now they seems to be moving reasonably quickly, but I would think that in Jan they'll drop a bit more, but there's only a leggy, low spec grey one that really seems to be sticking at the mo..

Good luck..

I am also playing the waiting game... black is definately the way to go. There was a nice red one with CSLs on Autotrader for around your price bracket IIRC... red is not that bad, expecially if it comes with CSLs!

You'll probably want:
  • Pro Nav (£1500 option)
  • Hi-Fi Pro DSP (£700 option)
  • Bluetooth prep & telematics (£400 option)
  • Rear PDC (£? option)
  • Seat heating (£250 option)
  • Auto-dimming mirrors (£200 option)
  • Cruise control (£175 option)
Exterior/interior is down to you - but the single colour seats look better than some of the 'individual' options.

Luckily I had a few options for colour schemes
  • Alpine White with Imola Red leather
  • Monaco/Midnight Blue with Imola Red/Champagne/Light Sepang Bronze leather
  • Carbon/Ruby Black with Imola Red/Champagne/Light Sepang Bronze leather
I really wanted the carbon-effect soft leather trim on the dash/console, but I'm getting used the the individual Piano Black Gloss I've ended up with - plus I've found it's over £1000 to buy the carbon leather trim.

I paid just under £27k for my car (£2k more than my budget) that had all but one of my wishes - it is Ruby Black with Champagne leather, and it only had 10,000 miles. Plus I got a year's tax and a full tank of fuel - and £2500 worth of CSL alloys.

If I'd found the same car without those wheels and without the optional Piano Black trim, it might have been £2-3k cheaper, but I couldn't wait, and once I'd driven it I was sold.

In a coupe? The cabin is really small so warms up pretty quick anyway.

Can't see anything out of them anyway

I have it, but it's not really much use as a Z4MC isn't usually used for 'crusing'

Carbon-look leather is the standard trim, piano black is a £300-£400 option.

Heated seats over the last few days have been very much appreciated ;-)

Carbon-look leather is the standard trim, piano black is a £300-£400 option.
I didn't buy new, I bought this on Friday wink

Didn't need/want heated seats, but now that I've got them I find they're great as they heat up quicker than the rest of the car is, and they're switched off within about 2 minutes.

If I'd specc'd it from new it would have the soft carbon weave leather as I'm not into shiny interior. I realise someone paid £400 or so for the individual piano black trim, but I was trying to negotiate with the dealer by saying it was perfect except for the trim and would they consider swapping it out. It was then that I found out that the trim was over £1000 (plus fitting) to retrofit.

Cruise control is very handy on my motorway commutes of 500-600 miles a week, although it comes off the instant there's any chance of some fun.

The interior mirror is useless, but the external mirrors give excellent visibility.

Rear PDC must be standard/free option as I can't find a price for it on the BMW site - although I can't find a price for front PDC either and that's not on the car (assuming it was an option).

I don't think front PDC is an option in the UK, although I believe you can buy the parts.

Rear park distance control is £279. If you go onto the configurator and scroll right to the bottom of the options list, it's the second last one.

Best value on the BMW site at the moment looks like the January 2007 car at Stratstone Doncaster, black with black leather, 16,000 miles and plenty of spec, including pro sat-nav for £22,441.

Did look at that one, but I couldn't get on with and all black interior (or bi-colour hurl).

Is anyone aware of the history of this car.

Dealer isnt really bending over backwards to make a deal and will not get the service that is due done by a bmw dealer.

What would yousay its worth ?

Steer Clear ?

Thanks

Personally i like the rims, paint combo

Anyone on here that knows the anymore about the history of the actual car ?

30k miles seems quite high with about 15k seemingly being the average for sale at the mo. If a lot of those miles have been done on the track or at high revs i best back away from this and be patient !!

Alpine White is a love/hate colour - I love it.

Equivalent mileage/age models are going for £21-£24k at BMW dealers with a proper BMW warranty. Sounds like it's £1-2k over-priced - unless 20" wheels are your thing (with £250-£300/corner tyre prices). Offer £23k if he puts proper wheels on it wink

Anyone know how i can get hold of Ed ?

I just want to find out some more about the history of this car.

Not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling from the dealer.

He just said to me that he is suprised i havnt given him top wack for a car with no up to date bmw service history, dealer warranty or tax.

He did offer me 250 to cover the service but no redress if faults were found

And there was me thinking it was a buyers market

I'd walk if I were you.

If they're this bad when they're trying to get money out of you, imagine what they'll be like when you try to get anything out of them for repairs, maintenance, warranty.
