I am going to walk, or wait for a price that reflects what it will cost for me to ensure that the car is up to scratch. At the moment I would have to pay for an independant bmw inspection and then service and i would expect that being taken into account in the price also. Why i am even contemplating risking the inspection fee is beyond me. Its amazing what cars can do to a man !!

The email trail between us makes for hilarious reading bearing in mind the economy at present. They must be so confident they have a unique car or think im an absolute mug that will stumble blindly into a trade!!

I have asked BMW AUC to source me a white one and will monitor autotrader and pistonheads!! I have set my heart on white and can get some nice csl's or schnitzer's with the money i save.

Anyone want a silver s2 elise sports tourer ??? wink

Thanks for all of your assistance guys

Dead right, let me guess Carl W's car doesn't have heated seats????
Dead right it doesn't. I've had heated seats in other cars (Saabs particularly) and other than serving to loosen my bowels I don't really find them useful. In a convertible it might be a different matter.

I tried to be objective on what I thought was important in terms of spec in this thread, not on what I do and don't have (which is irrelevant because I'm not selling). I guess whether it's a daily driver or not is also relevant -- mine's not, and if it's too bloody cold I won't go out in it anyway.

Snowfish, that white Z4m was sold through BCA Nottingham a few weeks back, I was going to go & buy it but never made the auction. The dealer must have bought it that day, he probably paid low £20's or less!!!

I was told 'it depends' on how many warranty claims they've had and any issues they've had. They then send a offer notice when your old warranty expires.

Hi

Walk, its not worth the money, especially given the attitude. The way prices are moving now you should shortly be able to get £20k, 15,000 miles, FSH (1200 inspection on the nose). Not a sellers market for the Z4M. I wouldn't buy unless I got a warm fuzzy feeling from the dealer - your sounds like a plonker who is unaware of the current economic climate. Incidentally a local BMW dealer had a 2004 M3, 39,000 at 21,950, then 20,950 then 19,450 and now has it at £18,900k. Been there over a month now.... General prices for anything like this are reducing fast. Be aware that next year the fleet market will be disposing of their Z4s so there will be further reductions in prices then.

Fleet market has Z4M's, I doubt it? Only 500 sold in UK and I have one

i disagree about a buyers market, theres not exactly much choice if your fussy... okay so the ones that are forsale are fairly cheap, but IMO that doesn't make it a buyers market. I've still got a porsche itch to scratch, but can't really consider selling mine due to the mental issue of loosing about 7k in 6 months - so i've gotta hang on for a while and get some more value out of it, i'm guessing i'm not the only one who feels like this smile

I know of at least one that has just come out of fleet ownership and now priced at £19,640 for 13,000 miles. I'm sure that not many Z4M will be fleet but some are.

So few Z4M there isn't much scope to pick and choose the spec, however I meant by 'its a buyers market' that these sort of cars have lost about 50% of their original price in 1.5 years....

What I dont understand is the dealers who have cars that have higher mileages (20k+) don't reflect on the price. You get dealers who think 2 similar spec cars are worth the same regardless of mileage.

That grey one at Coopers Ipswich with 29k miles has been for sale forever - it started at about £25k! I have watched so many cars sitting in dealerships for months just depreciating. Im not quite ready to jump yet but the time is close.

I guess the problem with studying the market for a car over 6 months is that you end up looking for a car that doesnt exist. You know your criteria, you know the market is unpredictable and you know what price you want it for. I have spoken with several dealers and cars around £25k can be had for £23k relatively easily!

I reckon the government putting the new car tax rules on hold for 12 months may help sales in the short-term.

You can have mine for £17 off list, and it's only 14 months old.

I got a quote for my Z4M roadster from BMW insurance services for less than £500.

I bought my 08 ruby black/black Z4M roadster for £18500 off list with 85 miles on the clock last month. I haven't got the heated seats (but wish I had), but have got electric folding door mirrors.....whats that about ?? Awesome car, can't wait to finish running it in......

Does the M Z4 have the same owners manual as other Z4's

You get a standard Z4 manual, and a thinner M supplement.

I'm popping in to my VERY helpful dealership in Tunbridge wells tomorrow morning to pick up my mats so will have a quick chat with Ian Biddle for you if I see him and let him know what you're after if you like Snowfish... he's very fussy himself and goes out of his way to help (or did with me anyway)

When I bought my car they went over and above my expected level of service despite serious haggling so would heartily recommend them (Coopers Tunbridge Wells that is)

I had this earlier this year - most common problem that this seems to be on the Z4M is a faulty oxygen sensor (which is what I had. Another sign of this is if the car takes a while to start up, particularly when it's cold. Fairly straightforward replacement under warranty.

I'd recommend you don't drive it hard before you get it looked at before you take it in though, just in case.

I had it too when the car was new. Had to go in 5 bleedin times before they found it though.
