Well, if we're talking amateur night, on my e34 M5 the schedule is...first oil service on mine - 1083miles
Oil service - 10,000 miles
Inspection I - 20,000 miles
Oil Service - 32,000 miles
Inspection II - another 10,000 miles left

Oil every 3,000 miles, except for...
Inspection I every 12,000, except for...
Inspection II every 24,000, plus
Valve clearances every 24,000
Pads every 12,000
Tyres every 12,000
Discs every 24,000
Clutch every 48,000
Suspension every 48,000
it's got 140,000 on it and did plenty at VMAX on the autobahn this summer.

Called the supplying dealer and good news.
Inspection 1 was done and brake fluid change were completed when the dealer took the car as an AUC car. That was 3 weeks before I bought it. They are going to stamp the book and post it back to me.
Thanks for the advice people.
That'll be £660 you owe me then and £80 for the brake fluid! Inspection 1 was done and brake fluid change were completed when the dealer took the car as an AUC car. That was 3 weeks before I bought it. They are going to stamp the book and post it back to me.

ETA make sure they update the BMW computer, not just stamp the book. To check it leave a few weeks and then ask another dealer if its on.

Doesn't the engine have to be stone cold to do the valve clearance checks?
If so, then any car that's had an Inspection that's taken less than a day will probably not have had these checked.
I worked out that in the first 3 years I had my M5, it went to BMW 3 times for valve clearance checks/shimming and I don't beleive they were ever done on a stone cold engine, as I would drop it off before 10am and get it back by 4pm.
Yes it does need to be cold and is time consuming. I was told it had to be dropped off one night and collected the next.If so, then any car that's had an Inspection that's taken less than a day will probably not have had these checked.

morning all...sorry to hijack the post!... my z4mc has developed a very audible whining noise when i break and come to a standstill...noticed yesterday after a run up to wales... breaks and everything else seem to be working ok, no warning lights either. just sounds like im driving a rusty old banger???...any ideas what this could be?
thank you in advance
Maybe a stone is caught under a pad. You could try jacking each wheel in turn and rotating the wheel with someone else lightly touch in the brake. If it were me I'd take in in it's under warranty - brakes are kinda important. They'll test it on the MoT brake tester.thank you in advance
Got a call from the dealer today to say they've got a service invoice from November which shows an oil service & brake fluid change.
They can't stamp the book until I visit them, but they'll send me a copy of the invoice and make sure the service is recorded on the computer.
Glad that's sorted!

Just got to work out why the kerbs near me are magnetic, because even though I'm deliberately giving them a wide berth they still end up scuffing the wheels!
The rim protectors on the PS2 tyres are useless - I'll have to glue some extra rubber on the sides for extra protection.
