We could go quite a bit off topic about the difference between selling and sharing pirate software - in both cases the copyright owner loses out ; the only difference is that in one case the recipient pays and in the other he doesn't. I don't see any moral high ground either way.

I hasten to add that this info was given to me on a forum and I'm merely passing it on.

Agreed - just IMO I think it's a bit cheap to sell pirate stuff thats available easily online. I'm not knocking you for sharing as I'm not whiter than white but I think people that sell it are pretty low. Give it away or don't.

To the original poster - x5forums is a good starting point for most of this stuff. I'd send a copy FOC but my DVD burner cannot make disks well enough for my car to read

OK fair enough - just to emphasise I'm not selling or sharing.

Is it wrong/unethical of me to download/buy one of these 'modded' versions after BUYING the GENUINE item from BMW.

It's not like I can get a 'fully optioned' one from BMW anyway.

It's probably available on bittorrent anyway, and would cost less than £1 to burn your own.

Also the DVD has a version of the speed cameras on it that are only up-to-date as of the date it was burned (assuming the latest speed cameras were installed). You'll then need to redownload/reburn every week to keep them bang up-to-date.

The latest ones that are going to be HD based sound like they'll be much easier to keep up-to-date and to modify.

That was my logic. I have a legit 2008 disk but it didn't allow full post code searching. BMW did not want to pay the post office for that proprietary information.

Therefore I did not wish to pay BMW for a sub standard product as I NEED postcode searching. This was easily available on the net.

Probably says more about my laziness when searching the internet than anything else. I'm happy to pay someone £23 to do it all for me and then send me the DVD.

OK it was Shunt and gmarks1 who had the info (see earlier in the thread)and I was one of those asking them to spill the beans! In the end, I decided to share what I had been able to find out.

Hi Guys,

Just Bought the 2009-1 HIGH EURO WITH FULL 7 DIGIT POSTCODE INPUT&V32 SOFTWARE UPDATE from Rusty. Does this work well ? .... it's sounds like it does from all the feed back.

Cheers

Someones had a bad day........... I have similar pirate disks, I don't want an audible speed camera warning and the updates twice a year seems more than enough for me. How often do they build new roads near you???

As for sticking a TT on the window and having to plug it in each time I want to use it, then having to hide it and wipe the window to remove evidence from scum, I really couldn't be arsed. So IMO the system works really well, ie no hastle.
