Buy the bits on line and do it yourself.

Hi

Is it under warranty? Then get it done at the main dealer.

If not, save yourself over £500 go to your local indy and buy them and have them fitted.

May I recommend using APEC brake discs and pads all around? They are absolutely superb, do not squeak at all and give fantastic performance.

Is under warranty. But does warranty cover breaks?

No, brakes are under 'wear and tear' and consumables that do not get covered. However the dealers still expect you to buy from them to preserve the warranty.

I'm afraid its bending-over time unfortunately....

I've changed discs and pads on warranty cars and it's never been an issue. They would be more upset if you changed a clutch on the driveway then complained the gearbox was noisy, and noticed signs of intrusion.

Directly from APEC. I have an account with them.

PAD1353 is the front brake pad number:

I don't think they do discs for the M5/M6 though. I've just had a look and they don't so apologies for the earlier post for suggesting the discs. It's only front (and rear) pads they do for the E60 M5.

My understanding is that you have to use genuine BMW parts to maintain warranty, BUT they do not have to be fitted by stealer. Thse cost of new discs and pads all round is not a lot less than installing a new big brake kit with 6pot front and 4 pot rear. The beast certainly need the upgrade imo. I've gone for stoptech and this won't have any negative effect on the cars warranty other the brakes.

CA Automotive, was about 4k plus the vat. I think genuine discs and pads all round were about 3k, so figured what the hell, the standard brakes are not man enough for the track or modded M5 anyway!

3K? Just had mine done for less than £1.5k.

Some official BMW dealers are now on Ebay selling front brake discs at VERY VERY reasonable prices

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-BMW-Front-Brake-...

Ebay item: 200591055874

Seems like running an E60 might get slightly less painful....

I bought brakes form this company and fitted them myself around a month ago... genuine BMW parts with absolutelly no issues at all... very easy to fit as well as long as you know what you are doing. took me around 2.5hrs on my drive and cost me 650quid.

was the front only though

Cheapest genuine BMW discs and pads are available on Ebay from BMW Ocean Plymouth. Front discs, pads and sensors £680, rear £435. These are still dear but cheaper than anywhere else in my experience.

Hi all, I'm interested in a replacement option - maybe just pads to start with to see how much of an improvement I can get. I've been trying for months now to get my user name approved on M5post.com. Anyone on there and can help? (R-Spec).

Assuming there's more of a deep dive over on M5post but if not then suggestions welcome?

Thanks!
