Well it was alot of fun! biglaugh

What a lovely machine and very kind of 'as7920' to take a complete stranger out for a ride in his new M car. Sadly being in Wimbledon there aren't any places to go to really show off the performance but we had a good chat and after 15 minutes or so I can tell it is a proper M in every way. Sounds lovely and has some real get up and go. So once again, thank you very much!

How fantastic is Pistonheads that this kind of thing happens. Certainly brightened up my day.

It was good to meet you "OllyBlox" and a pleasure to indulge a fellow PHer.

Shame I was "at work" and we couldn't go out for longer or out into driving country, glad you liked the short time we had. It really is a stunning car.

It always amazes me how small the world really is!

I thought I'd seen my first crashed one yesterday! yikes

A mangled one on a flatbed passed me on the motorway, then I realised it was lacking a few exhausts! Someone had M badged a normal 1 series.

Phew!

From what I've read it sounds like a superb piece of kit. I did see one at the BMW festival at Gaydon a couple of weeks ago in orange, and couldn't help but notice the mass of stone chips on the bonnet. It was literally littered with them. I asked what the mileage was, and the guy said 11000 and was being used as a 'press' hack.
Would still be pretty hacked off with the state of that, after only 11000 miles however.

Was it a customer car or one of the BMW cars? If it's a BMW car it'll have led a very hard life with lots of track time = gravel rash.

If the license plate began YH then it was probably one of those press cars that were used in Inverness for the promo and reviews a month or so back.

Another forum member had the front bumper on his 1M resprayed due to the amount of chips he had on it from a trip up there!

I saw that one too and it looked gash, the bonnet was peppered with stone chips... I think it was up for sale at rather a high price.
