Hi All,
ive owned an E46 M3, 2 E60 M5's and one E63 M6 previously.
just how special is the E46 M3 CSL, is the premium there because it is a genuine GT3 rival or because of the scarcity? yes ignorance, but is it that different to the E46 M3?
thank you.
Night and day imo. My GF's sisters fella has a boggo E46 M3, had never been in my CSL even as a passenger in the 3 years ive known him. I recently let him borrow it for the day so he could tag along to a car thing i was off to in the GT3 with the misses.ive owned an E46 M3, 2 E60 M5's and one E63 M6 previously.

He couldn't believe the difference to his. He admitted that before driving the CSL he really couldnt understand how his could be worth 12k and mine 35k. And thought I was a bit mental when I said it was as fun as the GT3. Now he wants a CSL badly.

Owned both. People may say different, but its similar to comparing a 997 c2s to a 997 gt3. Hope this helps! Everyone that's ever owned a Csl has always regretted selling, so that should speak volumes :-)
Spot on, C2S to GT3 is the perfect comparison.I've been lucky enough to have an E46 M3, an E92 M3, an E90 M3 & an 997.1 GT3 for me its on par with the GT3. Sure the GT3 might have that trackday edge, but the CSL makes up for that as its more fun! That typical BMW front engine rear drive set up just gives it that extra edge (not to forget the noise). Love it!

If you think you like it now, wait till you properly drive it on any Euro mountain passes it will simply blow you away, It feels like it was built for those roads, simply epic car.I've been lucky enough to have an E46 M3, an E92 M3, an E90 M3 & an 997.1 GT3 for me its on par with the GT3. Too many people think these are just a track car

I've had a V8 R8 (which i loved) 06 Gallardo... and the ONLY car i regret selling was my CSL! was so much fun to drive, I literally used to find excuses to go back to the office late in the evening just to have the roads to myself! ive owned an E46 M3, 2 E60 M5's and one E63 M6 previously.

also.... I bought a 2004 with only 45k on the clock for £27.2k, don't even want to know what its worth now!!!

04 CSL, 53k Miles, Full service history and BMW Warranty, AP's front and rear, Supersprint Exhaust. New pads all around and new ish Michelin Supersport tyres. Full file with receipts for pretty much everything.
Opinions on value?
I would have said anything from 32k to 36k dependant on condition. I think imho they are worth more if the subframe has been done by bmw as this takes away a lot of worry of a future BIG expense. Opinions on value?

Quite a few cars around for sale at the moment and are not selling , so the lower end of the range should see it move.
Some have been around a while for a reason, this time of year may not be the best time to sell. Such a shame to under sell a great car like the Csl. Possibly good time to buy though. Hmmm, it's a funny one the Cesil. Whilst I truly did want to enjoy the car after years of yearning after one, I'm afraid as a package I found it compromised! The gearbox is truly awful for day to day duties and only really makes sense when on full bore which gets a bit tiresome. Glad I owned one even if it was for a short time, whether if buy one again, especially at the prices they're commanding now, now sure!

They are now 10-11 years old cars & condition & history are all important, mileage less so ( though low milers still fetch a premium)Buyers are rightly picky, but the good cars still seem to go quickly.
