Thinking of buying a CSL

Looking to replace my Gallardo and thinking back to the fun my brother had with his CSL last year not to mention the fact that it cost him nothing to own or run for the year.I have noticed that the prices have droped alittle this year and iam trying to decide wheather to go for a low milage car or one with higher miles hence cheaper,i am planning to use it on the odd track day and a trip to the ring, however it will proberly be a car that i will keep for a long time and i do like my cars mint even more so with this being a rare and future classic.If any of you have any thoughts on this i would like to hear them or maybe you could recomend a car that myself or my brother may be interested in. I wouldn't worry too much about mileage, but buy on condition and history. I purchased mine last June with 46k on the clock and it is a cracker. Had it serviced at BMW 2 months after I purchased with them finding no issues adng iving it a clean bill of health so as long as you do your research I don't think you should worry about mileage especially as you are going to keep the car.
A car with 19k on the clock could have been ragged to an inch of it's life and one with 60k on the clock could have been lovenly cherrised by it's owner...so condition and history I say.

Not sure where your based but i've got a CSL with just under 20k for sale in the classified section up for £32000 its based in Camberley, just stuck 4 new ps2's on ?
For such a reliable car i don't think mileage should be an issue(so long as its looked after), there seem to be some nice cars going for closer to £25000.
Good luck either way, bet your Gollardo's going to be tough to beat in the fun stakes :-)

I test drove a CSL from Hexagon in London at the weekend, nice, clean low milage example with only 9,000 miles.
They were keen to do a deal and I would have bought it had I not got a cracking deal on an 07 plate GranSport.
I sold my last CSL in March and it has easily been the best car I have owned so far. Although I am looking to scratch the italian itch on Friday when I pick the GranSport up!

Thanks for the advice everybody,my brother bought a csl last saturday its black,has covered 19000 miles and in mint condition he bought the car for 27000 which i think is very good value as the car was up for 30000.I will be useing it for the next few days while he is in New York so i will let you know how it compares to my Gallardo,Matthew has already said that its just as good as he remembers(he had one last year).I will have a go at getting some pictures up on here over the next few days.

Thinking now I'll hang onto the Ultima as I'm enjoying tinkering so now looking for a un-molested basic spec CSL, mileage no concern as I know they're strong (but servicing a must).
Think I'm one of the few that will be getting a bonus in Feb so that's where the money will go.

The thing I worry about with buying a CSL is working out how hard a life it's had!
It's a bit like a GT3, you know there is a 90% chance it's been bought for track work... most cars you can imagine they've been on a few, but probably not these.
Ok it's been designed for it, but something which has done 20 odd trackdays is going to have had some severe abuse mechanically. Namely drivetrain.

Know what you mean but you could say that about most cars of this kind...Lotus etc. A well maintained CSL will be fine. Do you homework, look at plenty and if the thought of too much track work is a concern aim to get one with the BMW exteneded warrenty. I do not have one on mine and bought it private and I've had no issues but for piece of mind that warrenty may be important to you....Alot of potential buyers/owners are also hung up on mileage with the CSL. For me it was more about condition and history. Mine has 48k on the clock. I looked at a 9k car but to be honest it was a 2nd car used for track work and nothing else and the 48k car was in better condition.....for me a car that was used everyday with the odd track day was a better bet.

(I'm still looking at Masers but the fall in Gransports values seemed to have really stalled at around the 29-35k mark!)
Good job i still love the CSL so much! (and after over 2 years!)
I usually get itchy feet after 6 months!
