If anyone is still following this thread, here is no 178 which I have had safely garaged since 1994. Bought with 9k on the clock, now has 43k. Doesn't get out much!

Original condition with all trimmings except that the stereo died and was replaced.

That looks great. I'm guessing that's not the original front number plate though. wink

There's no sign there was ever a different fixing so as far as I can see it is original.

Apologies, further research implies that these were supplied with stick on number plates and a Mazda decal under the the front left indicator (see Boxerdog above) instead of a nose badge. Cool. smile

If anyone is still following this – I've just acquired number 167. Pretty much all of the original parts are there and mechanically it is pretty sound but still needs quite a lot of work – wheel refurb, new roof, lots of attention on the paintwork, some work on the sills, etc.. Looking forward to the challenge of restoring! If anyone on this thread has any advice or recommendations I'm all ears...

Hi guys I'm looking at buying number 45 of 250. Are they still worth buying as I'm guessing they will be worth a bit more than a standard mx5 in years to come?

The most valuable MX5 will always be the best condition cars, regardless of age or edition. Special/limited editions will only be relatively more valuable compared to a similar condition lower spec car.

I've just bought number 45 at a good price. Needs some paintwork but has loads of history with it. 117k miles. Has anyone had the genuine wheels refurbed?

Good for you you did a sterling job keeping her as clean as you did. How many of these are still about? Also do you have the original clarion stereo? Mine doesn't work 🖓

Hi Rolfey - yes still got the original Clarion fitted and working .... was not working when I got the car as the code was missing so I phoned Clarion who still had a technician there who remembers liasing with Mazda regarding that specific model and he agreed to decode it / service it etc. This option is probably still available .

Just had a quick re-cap on all of the posts within this thread .... it seems that there are at least 16 BRG LE's still out there plus number 88 is currently for sale on Car and Classic Website. The 'remainers' are ... 12 - 13 (BBR Turbo) - 45 - 46 - 74 - 100 - 106 - 125 - 127 - 130 - 131 - 136 (BBR Turbo) - 148 - 167 - 178 - 194. Hopefully a few more are still around too !

I was parked next to one, another BBR Turbo at the Thirlestane Castle classic car show a couple of weeks ago.

Not sure if it is one of the 2 mentioned above...

Be aware Style Hoops are just a pretty affectation & could break your neck if the car flips. The headrests will collapse & as the hoops won't support the weight of the car they'll bend over & crush you not save you. You're safer without them so best fit a proper roll-over bar however unsightly they may be.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. I've seen a couple of examples where a "style bar" has remained in place during a roll, possibly saving lives and I've never seen or heard of any cases where they have folded and caused further injury.
While nobody should fit them thinking they are a safety item, they really aren't dangerous.
