Welcome to the club wink where abouts is everyone from? I'm sure I saw an LE near to me a few weeks ago (portsmouth). Wheels came up nicely shame about the hefty price tag! I'm doing a slow time refurb at home, just need to get shot of the surface corrosion.
Number 131 resides way down in the far West of Cornwall Rolfey17 ....... here she is on one of the best driving roads in the Country , the B3306 St. Ives to St. Just .

Thread gone very quiet .... any more UK LE's lurking out there or updates on those already posted ? Here's 131 again , fully refurbished underneath with all new OE bushes and blasted / POR 15'd WB Arms etc . Also managed to acquire a spare set of those rare alloys recently.

The only change I would maybe make is to space the wheels out 5-10mm so they fill the arches better. Cracking car!

No update from me other than trying to value the car with a full respray... any ideas on valuations? 118k with full history, all le docs and hard top. For insurance purposes and potential resale. No where near as clean as boxerdog

Difficult one Jordan especially as a lot of folk out there on the forums reckon you can pick up 'immaculate rust free ' Mk1's for a couple of Grand !! In reality you can probably pick up a tidy one at that level but will need to spend at least another couple of Grand to get it anywhere near 'immaculate rust free' . And of course the terminology 'Rust Free' is very subjective !!

As a guideline on 131 I have a Lancaster Insurance Valuation agreed at £7,500 on basis of a very comprehensive set of pics. and history . I have actually been offered £10,000 for it at a show last year but having sold it once before (at £7,000 early 2016) and regretting it immediately (and paying a £1000 premium to get it back a year later ) I would not consider parting with it again , they really are an investment you can enjoy !

I paid £3250 for mine back in 2013 , 60,000 miles , fully history , VGC inc. wheels , immaculate sills / arches ( dry weather use at under 3000 miles p.a.) original paint , all documents and certificates etc and have probably spent about £2500 (plus many many hours of work) since then . The suspension refurb. with all brand new OE bushes / fixings / Wishbone refurb. x 4 and new x4 cost well over £1000 alone !

When you submit a figure for valuation purposes with the various evidence required to substantiate your number , the insurers with tell you immediately if you are being optimistic and provide an appropriate figure anyway . With a full respray and full history plus of course original wheels etc perhaps submit at a level of £4000 and see what they think .

Thank you for your response. I have been searching around to see if any others are for sale, however the only one I can see is on eBay and I feel they are being rather optimistic at £7888 with rust appearing on the arches etc.

I purchased mine back in June for a very reasonable price, and have been quoted a very good price for a respray. So far, the car owes me less than £600 including purchase price and purchase of a hard top. I don’t want to fork out for a respray and wheel refurb if the market for an le is very select and likelihood of a resale should I decide to, be very difficult.

I don’t know how it took me so long to find this thread. I own number 99!
Have done so for the past 7 years. I’ll post some photos but beware there is some work that needs doing and mot due end of month. May need to be sorn’d until I have time an inclation to fix up.

Did over 10k when I used it for commuting, under 500 a year now. Such a reliable car, shame about the weaknesses with bodywork that occur.

I’m also in Kent and I have mohair with glass, it sits under the hardtop at times of the year like now.

I don’t have the original radio in place at the moment, planning to pop it back in once it’s been tidied up.

Have the manual as well, don’t know if there is anything useful inside though.

Yeah that’s not bad. Mohair really last well.
Do you know anywhere in Kent for repairs to sills etc? Mx5restorer isn’t far away otherwise.

Hi all, never really been one for posting on forums but was chatting to someone at work about my BRG MX5 and when looking for similar photos on google (definitely in Friday mode!) I found this thread. I have No. 238 which is currently in a bit of a sad state under some tarp in a lock up awaiting me to finish my house renovations before my garage has enough room in it to bring it home. I don't believe it is original but mine also has the BBR Turbo kit fitted which is a little cheeky! Glad to see there are still a number of them still in existence. I am missing mine in the recent weather as nothing better than roof down driving with a little dump valve sound track but have to sort the house first to keep the boss happy! Here are the best two photos I have of mine:

Not really sure. The LED is for a TOAD alarm that was fitted by the previous owner but not sure about those blanking switches. The car came from a guy in Devon who rebuilt VW Splitties but it isn't a fine showing of his craftsmanship in my opinion as everything had been done cheap. Had the worst coilovers I have ever seen on it in that picture so I put a set of Zeta S coilovers which are great but there is a lot of tidy work to do on it. I call it a 10ft car as from 10ft away it looks decent, but up close the paintwork is knackered, interior is tired, hood is shot.....etc
