I just bought number 127! In very 'honest' condition and separated from the BBSs by her previous owners (though I could be about to put that right.

A few pics at the link - having a number of issues sorted at the moment.

I read something recently that stated that the wheels on the LE weren't BBS items, but special Mazda wheels that look a bit like them. Does anyone know for sure.

Your are correct about the wheels - they are OZ alloys manufactured in Italy.

Still trying to keep as original as possible so dug out the old factory fit Clarion Radiocasette , got it decoded and refurbished at Clarion UK , and here it is back in it's original place......................

Also refitted the original battery cover after a spring clean inc. boot area and carpet - put an optimate charging lead onto battery to save removal of the cover every time.....

Are these a Mazda UK special (judging by the number plate surround)? What were they called?

I had a 1991 Eunos V-Spec which is very similar; same paint, seat, handbrake but different rear number plate, alloys and steering wheel boss.

Mazda MX-5 Limited Edition

The Limited Edition is based on a standard 1800cc model (this was an error in the advertising - it was of course 1600cc) and was introduced to celebrate the MX-5's first year of production. Only 250 units were available between March and December 1991 and cost £18,249.00 when purchased new

This special version was finished in British Racing Green and sported colour coded 15" BBS alloy wheels. (This was an error in the advertising - they are OZ alloys)

The interior was nicely trimmed with tan leather seats and deep pile carpet. Further enhancements included a wooden steering wheel, hand-brake grip and gear knob.

Each Ltd Edition model was supplied with a leather owners wallet and embossed key fob. The leather wallet shared the same brass plaque that was fitted to the vehicle dash

This plaque displayed the vehicles unique production number and a certificate was also supplied to prove the vehicle's authenticity

Standard vehicle specification also included central locking, electric windows, stainless steel scuff plates and a powerful Clarion CRX111R radio-cassette above a distinctive analogue clock

Its also worth noting that these cars were generally fitted with a 'stick-on' number plate ... a 'Mazda' decal was applied to the right side of the front bumper instead of the normal badge too

It is also thought that 25 out of the 250 were reserved for 'tax free sales or personal exports' so there may have only ever been 225 in the UK

Good find. For a second there I though that was a 5 1/4 inch floppy disk on page 3. I've been working in IT far too long.

Just started refurbing my 24 year old scuffs with Liquid Leather Scuff Master from Gliptone Leather Care - amazing stuff which in the case of BRG LE tan leather colour matches perfectly.

Still needs a few more coats but here's a couple of current stage pics....

"any enthusiast will know that the Original factory fitted BBR's are as rare as hens teeth and once fully restored can fetch anything up to £10k"

they are OZ alloys manufactured in Italy apparently!!

There was a BBR converted one of these LEs showing at the Thirlestane Castle classic car show last Sunday.

I didn't get a chance to look over it closely, but it did look in pretty good condition from a cursory glance (I was recovering from a passenger ride in an Ultima Can-Am so my senses weren't quite as sharp as normal biggrin).
