Hi everyone,

Just after a quick bit of advice if possible please.

My beloved has developed a small problem recently whereby where by when i start the car it runs fine for the first 2-3mins and after that i have real problems with the tick over.

The engine runs beautifully when driving, however, each time i stop, (junctions, traffic lights, etc etc) it bearly ticks over around 3-400 rpm and more often than not stalls....

Am i looking at a new idle speed control valve or something else?

Thanks in advance for your replies....

Ross

clean up the ICV and TB then reset the base idle (paperclip in the diag box, do a search, cant remember the details) See how it runs then

I had the same problem when I first bought my MK1.

Paper clip trick as mentioned above and all is good.

Thanks for the advice guys,

I duly printed off the instructions given, lifted the bonnet and noticed this..... wrapped some insulation tape around as a temp measure it and it ticks over like a dream......

Thanks again
