Currently have Toyo winter tyres fitted (excellent), and am now beginning to look for a summer rubber option.

Needs to be 18" - either 225/45 or 235/45.

I like a stiff sidewall for the feedback

I was thinking of the RE070 but these aren't made any more are they? What would a natural alternative be??

Cheers

Either get some trackday tyres on your steed Toyo R1R, or maybe run flats. RunFlats have very stiff sidewalls.

Aha - indeed sir! I have these on my Type R Impreza - such a brilliant tyre, and with super stiff sidewall...

Sadly they are £200 a corner in my size frown

Conti sport 5's are pretty stunning tyres. Well worth a look.

Bridgestone - long known for stiff SW's - now have the RE-11 which looks awesome - not available here! Dunlop have the Direzza 2 which looks like a Advan AD08 - not available in the UK

The AD08 IS available, but I'm not going to pay £200/corner

The F1 AS 2 is £140 and does a a pretty top job. This looks favourite at the moment

Ooh, nice, have you had the AD08 on your P1 before? Hugely confident tyre on the Impreza smile

I really want to keep the Forester's height the same as it is, so if I went 17" I would need a 225/50 to keep about the same (lowers by 4mm actually) and I don't think Yoko make that size in 17" - shame as there's a 225/45 AD08 for £116 smile

Checking the tyres on my '03 Forester STI at the weekend has revealed they're original (!). Does anyone have any suggestions for suitable replacements with a stiff side wall - I'm running standard suspension, ARB, and no strut braces so can tolerate a stiffer tyre.

Cheers

I've settled on Yokohama v105 for the last few sets. Really stiff, better grip than the 050 I came off. Obviously a bit behind on compared to AD08 in the dry, but much better in the wet.

Noisy buggers tho.
