Other way around Steve,6th is a shorter gear than 5th......you would have to change the final drive to give it longer legs on the motorway.A 3.63 with your 5 speed would do that at the expense of acceleration. Will make 1st gear more useable with the charger though....

Sorry Steve, misread your post.....you're right,it wouldn't be a good swap for better motorway cruising!
Should take more time reading things biggrin

nice one rich smile I have most of my torque fairly early due to the overlay and smaller nose pulley so sounds like it drive worse through the gears as well smile

Gonna leave it alone methinks biggrin

Mine has 200lb/ft... pretty much everywhere. Still feels great with my 6-speed. Being a Mk2.5 Sport I do have the long dif though.

by the sounds of it then the 6-speed wouldnt be a good swap for better cruising on the motorway? Mine drives now like it needs a longer 6th biggrin
I think you can swap the 5th gear in the 5 speed for an RX7 one which is longer.

Top in a 6 speed is only 4% higher than top in a 5 speed. Thats 2.8mph at the national limit.

Its dif and wheel/tyre size that make the biggest difference to overall gearing.
