A friend let his battery die and replaced it - there is probably more to the story but that's all he's admitting to.

He called me after nothing worked and I found the main fuse had blown.

I replaced it and the car started and seems to run fine.

But the radio is dead (fuse is fine) and the amber check engine light is on.

I tried plugging in an OBD code reader under the dash but there isn't any power to the OBD socket so it won't read codes.

I've removed the battery but the light instantly reappears.

Any ideas ?

Sounds like there is still a fuse out somewhere. Check all the main fuses in the engine bay and then all the fuses in the cabin fuse box.
Failing that it might be a dodgy relay.
Have you checked to make sure the ecu hasn't been swimming?

I had a similar problem recently. The interior light and remote locking weren't working either. It turned out to be a blown fuse, though I can't remember which one (sorry).

I'd say this.... Check the room fuse

I had this on mine and as said, it was a blown fuse.

Wouldn't show up on OBD as it the fuse that powers the OBD!biggrin

Can't remember which one, but looking at the fuse box inside the car (RHS under steering wheel) it is the second or third one from the bottom, and I think it is a 10amp one.
