Hi,

I got into my car today a veritable lake on the floor frown I'm a leisure driver so the cars been unused for nearly 2 weeks - plenty of time to build up.
I've just cleared the drains today which might make a difference but I think water is also getting in through the gaps in the window seals.
I know that when its been wet, when I start driving, water comes through the tiny gaps in the seals above the windows particularly at the front end. Sorry I dont know the names of these things to describe them.
I spoke to a hood repairer today and he said that my hood might need replacing if its shrunk. This seems like quite a severe fix.
Anyone else had this problem and found a fix?

Thanks
Clutch Happy Candice

I've not had the problem myself, but can the catches be adjusted to close the roof a little tighter?

Also, could it be that the windows have dropped a touch. Can you force them up a little more?

If the seals are ok, not split or cracked, give them a good clean with some soapy water and treat with something like Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber Care or Einszett Gummi Pflege. Keeps them soft and supple and helps against freezing in winter. Make sure all the channels in the seal across the top of the screen are clear of gunk. Also make sure the glass is clean. You've done your drain holes, so that should not be the cause.

It is possible to adjust the height of the window glass if it is not making good contact against the roof seal. There are two stops bolted to the glass, behind the door card. Have a Google and you'll find pics. I think the worst case is that you'll need to adjust the door hinges, if the whole door has dropped.

Replacement side seals are available, but I think your hood guy may be right that if the whole hood has shrunk just replacing the seals may not work.

Got any pics of where the gap is?

hah.. I guess I should have checked older threads before posting mine.. I'm in the same boat here, and it looks like my hood may have shrunk too.

Wonder how many more hoods we need to get before we could consider a group buy? smile
