I have a mk2 18i Sport,factory spoilers, air con,all leather, hard top,LSD,only 2 owners, garaged for ever,we were lucky.
I paid 1300 for it, its the best value / most enjoyment car I have ever had.
By the way, I'm 6 foot, portly, bald, over 50 and don't give a st what other people could think.
Although to be fair, I drive it most days, and have never had anyone so much as look, hint, or any way offer any thoughts of whether I look daft or girly.
Some guys just don't need a manly car to feel/look manly. wink
It seems some do though...

Not at all girly. After all, a lot of hairdressers are menlaugh
In what way do you think it is a 'hairdressers car'? (Other than some bloke on Top Gear said it)
It's rather effeminate and delicate, with a nice small engine so as not to scare the driver.
The perfect metrosexual wagon
A poor mans SLK wink
Even if true, what on earth does any of that have to do with the process of cutting hair? confused

Not girly as such, but for me the NC is very Lightening McQueen.

But these cars are all about the drive so who cares. I had a mk1 and sometimes wish I've found space in the garage to keep it, maybe with a supercharged bolted to it. Looked good, handled well on gaz golds and was tough as old boots. I used and abused it on road and track for 3 years, commuted in it over the summer and ignored it for 6 months each year - and it was always ready for more.

Here's what 10k of many, many mods gets you ! New nose was installed at Christmas as I never liked the "fish mouth". No real engine mods only better air filter and race exhaust. Would have gone the supercharger route but the engine is pre 08 so wouldn't have taken it ! It will match most "sporty" machines on B roads driven well. Suspension and set-up is key though !
Let me know what you think ?

Are you saying it's a £10k car or has £10k worth of mods?

10K of mods over 5 years but I guess as a 2007 car even with low mileage I guess it wouldn't make 10K if I sold (which I'm not intending to do).

Absolutely girly.
The OP should definitely buy a car that impresses men as this will prove that he is not a total gayer.

Lol. Perfect answer and so very true.

My garage is definition of "girly"!!

Get a "manly" hot hatches - FWD will be nice and safe...

Lovely day today, roof down, perfect car.

I'm not a fan of the looks of the NB tbh and the NA is just too old for me now.

NC looks great, goes great, why give a fk what anyone else thinks.

Here is my 200bhp BBR tuned one...looks proper with subtle lowering and lower offset wheels to remove the 'tucked in' look...

Probably is still seen a bit girly by some folk but I don't care at all.

Excellent cars to drive and great fun to use their full potential on a twisty b road. As others have said, lowering and a good geo alignment is key.

Just be aware you will get a lot of stick from non-car people for owning one. Don't blame them though, they don't know any better.

I don't know whether its girly but girls DO seem to really like it. I stuck a picture of my black Mk 3 on facebook when I bought it and loads of my female friends expressed their approval. The hairdresser comments came from a few of the blokes but not many. I love it, permanent grin driving it.

Sometimes wish I'd been braver and gone for bronze rather than black...still reckon it looks smart though.

Regarding the above comment about girls liking the car....EVERYONE seems to appreciate this, I get loads of people coming up to me saying 'nice car, what is it?' and asking various question when I'm cleaning it or putting fuel in or whatever, its funny really because its not expensive, especially fast or a posh make, but it gets way more appreciation from randomers than you might think for 'just an mx5'. When lowered, in a bright colour and with the right wheels on it does look more special than it actually is I guess.

If you ever do decide to become braver and get a bronze set, give me first shout on the black set.
