May last year some guy hit the side of my MK1 Eunos... which wrote it off as a CAT D. Last month a guy has run into the back of me, minimal damage but they have written it off again, another CAT D which will again show on the history. a Double CAT D, which I guess has devalued the car even more, but as I can see myself selling it for a while it does not matter too much.

Great to have it back on the road although this time it was an easy repair. We are planning another trip to France in it late in the summer.

I have been keeping up the repair history on my blog if anyone is interested.

It'd be such a shame if another one died, especially one that's had lots of work done on it like yours. I've decided I'm keeping mine forever which is why it'll probably become a Trigger's Broom car.

Great blog and good on you for keeping another mk1 on the roads and being driven like they deserve!

Mine's survived a cat-D as they forgot to put it on the database smile New sidelight and bumper is all that was needed!

I will check in a few weeks time, but its already on there once... I

I bought an Audi TT convertible once as a none runner very cheap once... it had been a cat C, then a cat D and then a cat D again! I got it running and it sold for good money, despite being honest in the advert about its history! I guess it does not put everyone off!

It wouldn't really put me off on a car like this - my "crash" was at 3mph!

Six years ago I bought a Cat C MX-5 (2002 Mk 2.5 Sport) of Ebay for about £1,800. After speaking to the original owner, they'd lost it on some ice and gone nose first into a bush. They were unhurt and it hadn't been a hard enough impact to set off the airbags or even break any of the light bulb filaments. The main problem was the plastic nose cone was shattered low down and the fog lights had totally gone. The left front wing was also slightly damaged, the headlight smashed & the corner of the bonnet bent down a little. The poor thing looked like a toothless shark.

I got a refurbed nose cone, fog lights, headlight, undertray, front number plate etc and handed it over to a bodyshop to fix it up. They did a wonderful job for only about £700 and it really looks immaculate.

Being a Cat C I had to get it inspected at my local DVLA centre before I could get a tax disk for it. This was a formality really. There was nothing mechanical that was damaged and it went through the MoT without any work needing to be done at all.

I've had it a while now and it's been great. It's not worth very much with that Cat C hanging over it, but it's been a reliable and fun car to own. It sailed through its latest MoT on Tuesday without any advisories yet again.
