MX5 2.0 Sport Engine Rebuild?

Hi all,

My MX5 is knocking so I suspect it's threw a bearing. I've had a look on the net and I'm surprised to see there's no rebuild threads. I've changed shells on Alfa Twinspark engines before and saved the engine so for the £40 they cost it's work a go surely?

I seem to remember with these engines that if you run them low on oil (main cause for the big ends to start knocking) then even if you fit new big ends and regrind the crank etc then you'll run into other issues down the line so it's cheaper and normally safer to change the engine in the long run.
