I think that's going on the assumption that it's a 'new' project and not the evolution of an existing vehicle

My Mk2.5 had rusty rear sills, it's had them sorted as well as the rear arches. As part of my engine swap, I'm doing the front chassis rails. Since buying it 4 years or so ago, I've probably spent over £9k on it, from the parts and work required to supercharge it to 225bhp, the custom interior work and now, the 1UZ engine swap which is in progress. You don't do these things with a view to it being cost effective. You do it because you love it.
