Looking to get insurance sorted before I pick up my mk1 import. Quotes are reasonable on moneysupermarket(£250 - £400), but when I tick the modification box and add the roll bar option (car has style bar fitted), the cheapest quote jumps to £550.

Any other PHers had to deal with this issue? Should I declare the car as standard and leave the style bar on? Or choose between taking it off and paying the much higher premium?

And Adrian Flux; they gave me a much more competitive quote than Sky but those were the first two on my list

I've been with Footman James for a few years now, very good with modifications.

I'm with Aviva and I just explained over the phone that the bar was purely for looks.

Thanks for the advice. I got a good deal with a classic car policy through Footman James. Can't wait to pick up the car!
