Been offered a *really* nice Mk3 MR2. The thing's been mollycoddled to within an inch of it's life, lots of TTE & TRD bits, mint hardtop. c63k, 4 new tyres and it's a facelift.

Trouble is, the offering price is £4k, and instinctively, I can't help think that is overpriced.

Any thoughts?

They have come down in price since I bought mine (nearly two years ago) but good ones can be hard to find and seem to hold their value. Mine was slightly less than that (but I did then have to buy a hardtop and replace the tyres). Mine was low mileage, though (25k).

Now down to 3.5k sans hardtop.

Have to admit, it's tempting at that. Will I be able to move it on in about at year for less a couple of hundred?

It does have the full TTE kit and options, so I'm guessing more desirable.

Any more comments? I really want this car but still convinced it's overpriced :-/

To give you a comparator, one has just been advertised on the MR2ROC forum, 2004, 64k, A/C and hardtop. Cloth seats though.

£2950.

I'm not sure you will be able to view it without being a member, but:

He also has it advertised on Gumtree apparently - he's in East Kilbride if that helps. It's silver with red cloth seats and private plate.

Magic, thanks!

Created an account and can now see the advert. Looks nice. More realistically priced, although, admittedly the other one does have more TRD / TTE bits.

Sold my 06 mk3 mr2 for a big less than £3000 last summer (79k miles full history and perfect condition. That was the best I could get in a private sale. So this sounds high, However if the car is perfect I wouldn't worry about losing a few hundred as a couple of repairs or sorting small issues like non matching tyres geo set up, better brake fluid etc could cost the difference anyway, but all worth doing to get the best out of any example.

They seem to have fallen in value since I had mine. Bought in 2013 for £3000, sold year later for same price (2004 car, pretty immaculate)
