Trying to solve a problem with my headlights, can anyone point me to a wiring diagram for the headlight circuit for a mk1 Eunos?

In case anyone has an idea of a solution the problem is that the sidelights come in as expected, headlights pop up but neither dipped or main beam come on, although the main beam light comes on whether the main beam is selected our not.

TIA.

Go nuts smilehttp://www.mellens.net/mazda/mazda_miata_extra_man...

Well worth downloading all of these IMO: http://www.mellens.net/mazda/index.html

With your issue, first I would check if there is power getting to the bulbs, then trace back from there.

If you are saying that the lights pop up on sidelights and work fine when dipped/high beam is selected then I think that is normal for some JDM Roadsters.

Not that, this is a fault that has suddenly appeared, turn the selector one click and the sidelights come on as normal, turn it the second click and the headlights pop up but the lights don't come on but the main beam light does (whether main beam is selected our not).

I did manage to find the diagrams linked above but something strange seems to going on, none of the diagrams show the set-up in my car. For starters the relay for the lights is in the relay box on the inside of the left wing as you'd expect (and as shown in all the diagrams I could find) but it's never been attached, there's no lead that could possibly connect to it, and yet until very recently the lights have worked absolutely fine.

From today's work on it I know all the fuses are fine and receiving power, as is the switch stalk. All earths seen fine too. Beyond that I'm lost!

It could be a fault in the light switch but I'd check out the headlight units fir earth problems first as this is a common area for lighting problems on Mk1s.

Did you find what was wrong? I'm currently sat in a car park with the exact same issue as you described. Headlights were fine, nipped into the shop and when I got back, nothing. Just the full beam dash light.

Yeah, I really should have updated this, it turned out just to be a blown bulb! Very strange way for it to react but that's all it was.

Just found this thread as I had the exact same problem with mine this evening.

Unscrewed the headlamp units, fiddled with the connections and they came back one, must have just been a bad earth!
