I am after a seat which can be good for touring. So they have to be comfortable enough. A sporty look is nice, but they have to be comfortable. Black but can be cloth (if they are particularly nice) or ideally leather. These look good, but apparently are a bit worn...

I'd pay good money for a mint pair of those.

I am going to get my Mk1 highbacks trimmed by a local specialist in Nappa hide with seat heaters for less than you paid for plastic!
Oooh, might be an option. I guess if I visited an old school trimmer and checked the material before hand, that might work.

When my recovered tombstones arrived I was suprised how low the back was. I was used to my Alfa seats being higher up. So I guess either taller ones, or adjustable ones might be a plan.

He's on Facebook - search junkyard dog mx5 and there's a recent post on the Mx5nutz page which he's tagged in. His name is John Turner, and he has a bloody brilliant reputation. Supplied me a few bits very swiftly and exactly as described.

How tall are you? Build?
If you have his contact details that would be awesome. I'll have a search now too.

I'm 5'11" average build.

Check out my nuts...

IMG_6038 by s_worksair, on Flickr

As you can see the standard MX5 nuts end up buried deep in the holes of my new wheels. I can just about fit a spark plug socket in there but I have to tap it on and removing it is a pain. Should I have used an extra long set of nuts? Does something like this exist? If so who sells them? I've only fitted one wheel so far as I wanted your views...

Also is there something available to cover up that hole in the middle?

Thanks!

Update on the seat situation. The seller sent a courier the same day I complained. Today I received a full refund. So they have dealt with this as swiftly as possible. In light of this, perhaps it was a genuine honest mistake after all? I still have no idea, but at least it is now dealt with and their customer care was better than their adverts or pre post inspection. I still have no idea why a leather trimmers would have vinyl on site, but there you are. Done and dusted.

My car has been booked into Scuzzle for quite some time now. I only phoned them up today to sort out about getting my car dropped off. I was just told the dampers have not arrived and will not be here any time soon as Meister don't even have any. Great! I had a trip planned with my little girl, so I needed this all fitted on the 11th this week. Thanks Meister!

So I now wish to use another company. Please help me decide what to go for - I only have to today to sort this out! My requirements:

1. Has to be comfortable over day to day bumps on the road.
2. Will be used for road use 99% of the time.
3. I want it lower than standard but not slammed to the deck!

Budget £750 max.

Thanks!!

Very nice Ricky. Although the angle of the sun / shadow probably isn't making it look at its very best. #fussygit hehe

What was the total price in the end?

Can he fit an electric window heating switch too?

That price is really good!

Did he offer any options? Ie, different levels of quality of material or anything else?

When is yours going in to see Nick? Mine is there now having its new hybrid forged engine (mk2.5 bottom end with forged rods, mk2 RS head, ally rad and silicone hoses plus some engine bay tidy up such as removal of air con and power steering), pick it up Friday hopefully (having MOT whilst there so fingers crossed!) and it'd be good to meet up with a like minded owner.
Mine is there now. It is the silver one with Enkei wheels and retro mirrors. Still looking like an off roader, until the dampers arrive. Nick should be fitting the low pro lights and full Racing Beat stuff on Thursday 11th onwards. It will still look daft until the GGP go on!

Yep will be good to meet all 5 drivers. The meets and people seem quite active and friendly, so I can't wait to get involved. smile

ps

I hope you lot are over on mighty5s dot com as well? Looks like a good little crowd growing over there.

smile

Yes it is. Although it does not look like that now. I bought it as it was mint and original underneath. I then proceeded to tweak a lot.

It now has leather seats, no mud flaps, Enkei wheels, Michelin tyres, Gaz Gold Pro dampers, Racing Beat intake, manifold, cat, exhaust, low-pro lights, m2 mirrors, wind breaker, etc. LOADS more to come, over time. Buying the car and doing the mods all in one month was a bit pricey. The aim is for an OEM+ subtle look but with more poke all round.

So far the engine is completely standard. It just has better breathing bits bolted on. Although apparently it is the strongest standard MX5 engine they've seen at Scuzzle. So it is a good base for the NA tuning I am saving up for.

With just the bits done so far the car is transformed in nature. It has gone from a soft geeky base to a car with a bit of attitude. The car burbles on tickover and screams loudly to the redline. Immense fun!

The GGP dampers with road soft road springs are lovely. Really good over bumps - IF you get the ride height correct. With zero gap between tyre and rim it bottomed out everywhere. At 1cm it did it occasionally on fast driving. At 1.5-2cm it has not done it at all. Although I am still playing with settings. My local roads are very swoopy and harsh.
