Last week my wife and I went down to support our daughter, who after launching project LeMans 4 years ago actually raced an LMP3 race car in the 1 hour support race for the 24hour event.
She finished in 15th place from 39 starters and Brundle was on pole and race was won by Jan Lammers who won the 24 back in the 80's for Jaguar, so a class field.
Our choice of vehicle to drive down through France was the wife's MX5 MK1 as daughter had a Nissan Nismo 350 kindly lent to her by Nissan as her race car was powered by a 4 litre V8 Nissan motor. Obviously we could not match the Nismo but the MX proved a great little car only blotting its copybook slightly by needing a coolant top up when it got too warm. Once this was done it was perfect and strangely attracted much favourable comments when parked in the LeMans circuit despite being parked alongside the Nismo.
How many 26 year old cars that have not been restored and all original could follow this example?
We are not moneyed folk so our choice of cars was my old Porsche 944 (which has a tappet rattle) a Quantum RS turbo (dead gearbox suffered during track day) or an XR2 engine Quantum 1.6 carb which was considered but its ugly and has a tiredish engine.
The MX is a fine car and to think a few years ago I regarded them as a bit bland.

Great stuff and many congratulations to you daughter.

I took my 94 Eunos to the Le Mans Classic in 2012. I had a few problems, but most were self inflicted. Didn't go in 2014 and can't go this year, but I've already got a return trip planned for 2018.
