Spur of the moment purchase, 03 S2000with 76k and no recent service history.

What should I be looking for when I go to pick it up?

Bid £5576, am I mad, seemed reasonable value...

Oil level is key, these engines don't like being run low

Suspension geometry and bushes are big bills if seized

May be a bit late, but there's a buyering guide on this section of the forums. That covers most things.

Also looked at this on Ebay; it looked like the windscreen had either let in water or was delaminating from the pictures.

Plenty of high mileage (100,000 miles+) S2000s around lately, have to wonder if they're worth a punt. coffee

What model year is it? Early ones burnt oil, especially at that miles not surprised, perfectly normal depending on how much it's getting through?

They all use oil, mine uses about 300ml every 500 miles.

Mine used to use a litre every 800 miles or so. Make sure you check it often.

I'm sure it had a hard life with its previous owners. Bought it at 100k.

In the end I sold it due to worrying the engine was going to blow up. It would make an unpleasant noise at around 2.5k rpm. The previous owner had spent 4k on the engine, including timing chain replacement - yet it still made this troubling rattling noise at those revs.

Brilliant engine in other respects.

You may find the roof seals leak when the car is moved after sitting in rain. It dribbles down your arm and onto the wheel as you soon as you drive off.
