Hi All,

The MX5 question has been on my mind for about a year now. A couple of weeks ago a 2003 1.8 5 speed manual Icon came up only 2 miles away privately from a lovely couple that was too good too pass up.
The car's in need of a bit of TLC but importantly no structural problems of a rusty nature.

I've spent 2 weekends now getting it into a decent condition,
  • Remove green algae growth from hood - after going through a bottle of turtle wax and AG cleaner I found a tip on Dettol Mould and Mildew remover, this worked a treat and its back to a rich black
  • Buff up the milky headlamps
  • Polishing a few minor scrapes out
  • Oil and air filter change
Now I just have the pads left on my todo list. Checking online gives me 2 options for front pads, to fit 255mm discs, and to fit 270mm discs.
I am working away from home this week so cannot measure the disc and Eurocar parts can't say from their database.
I am correct in thinking all 1.8 MK2 have the larger 270mm?

I'd be very grateful if anyone has the answer as there is 56% off at ECP this week so I'd like to order before I get a chance to measure

Obvious photo attached biggrin

There are two different sizes and I suspect yours is the smaller of the two.

ECP are pretty good though. Order both and return which ever is wrong for a refund. I've done this a few times with parts I couldn't remove to check before ordering,

Thanks, I've returned parts to them before when I've made the mistake so not a bad idea.
Was larger brakes a factory option then?

It will be the 255mm discs. Only the Mk2.5 Sport and some specials based on the Sport had the 270mm discs.

Thanks both, and I need to add they are such a gem to drive at any speed on any road.
So lucky with the sun and the roof down this weekend
