Any ideas where the best place to get a downpipe for my mk1 mx-5 is? I was hoping to get a stainless steel manifold, complete with downpipe for my car but i cant find one that fits? i dont know if mazda changed the design for the manifold at some time?? but none of the ones ive tried actually fit?????

Try MX5Parts or Moss. Portsmouth and nationwide respectively, both have sites and do a very good delivery service - mostly next day, certainly from MX5Parts.

What you need is a 1.8 manifold head with a 1.6 downpipe. Don't think you will have much luck with a stainless. I have tried and ended up using the above.
My 1.8 conversion should be done soon

What order are the spark plugs in on yours? Also, do you have any engine bay pics?

after having a nightmare trying to get a decent manifold, was told the car had a 1.8 conversion by one "expert"...although i subsequently found out it is still the original jap 1.6...so why doesn't the manifold fit???? will check out spark plug order for you and get some pics up here asap

On the cam cover do the letters stick out or are they press inwards?

Then you have a 1.8 All 1.8 engines have outwards letters on the cam cover. 1.6's have them indented. Only real way of telling the difference. The Cam Angle Sensor will also be on the right hand side at the back for a 1.8.
