New forum for me. I've joined the fold.

My 2000 Mk2 California.

Bought to enjoy the summer with my Father whilst he undergoes Chemo, and to bring some sunshine to the darker days.

Slightly modified by the previous enthusiast owner. The car has been so well looked after and is, as far as I & numerous other people can tell, in mint condition. It really is a credit to him.

A couple of recent photos having fitted Gaz coilovers and a supercharger.

Sadly it's now not working due to a failed clutch release bearing. frown

Nick, my bank manager would kill me for asking, but what's it like with the supercharger? What sort of power did you have before, and what did the 'charger raise it to? And did you source it as a kit or as disparate parts? It seems most MX5/Eunos get supercharged via BMW/MINI..

I'd love to get a bit more power, and while my head says turbo, my heart says supercharger..

And soz for the barrage of questions! smile

And welcome to the forum Gretchen; the California's lovely, and I hope you have a very happy time hooning around with your Dad.

It's eye watering. I thought I could do it for under £1500 but I was oh so wrong. I bought a used Mini Charger kit off a running car that was being broken thinking that would be the easiest route. Was it hell. I don't think the guy had ever had it rolling roaded as when I put it on it was running dangerously lean. THis lead to cost spiral involving Megasquirt ECUs and RX8 injectors. Now it's lunched the clutch so I'm looking throwing another £1K at it on a decent clutch and flywheel set up fitted.

I don't regret it thought, it's such an awesome car now. Standard is 115bhp at the flywheel and it's now 190bhp. When I've fitted an intercooler I should be able to advance the timing a bit more and see near enough 200bhp. Very entertaining.

My build thread is here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Lovely California you have there Gretchen; I particularly like the subtle yellow accessories as opposed to the over-the-top look we see all too often.

Very nice! If you prise off the steering wheel centre cover, theres a momo under there.

Try it! Looks better imo.

Thanks, I would like to lower it an inch at the most but I doubt I would make it out of the drive. laugh

Thanks, I tried it for a while after I bought the car. It has the original wheel and is in poor condition which drove me nuts, so I covered it back up.

I'm thinking about getting another/second one paperbag

Admittedly a few friends have said they don't think I'll keep mine long as not enough horses, but the fun factor somewhat outweighs that.

All this talk of car washing has spurred me in to action. Well almost. I enlisted some child labour...

I'm looking for a lovely MX-5 we bought from new. I've had a look through all 85 pages on this thread just to see if was here, but it's not, but it's making me lust after it again.

Has anyone seen it around? It's a 1.8 sport, blue, black leather interior, reg MV51 WKD. Was registered in Bolton in Oct 2001 and all online checks show it's still on the road. I bought it was a wedding present for my husband, but we had to sell it when I became pregnant. I'd love to know what happened to it. I have some photos in the loft, I'll try to dig them out.
