Went to have a look at ANOTHER mk1 last night.

This one had a drivers footwell, and under the drivers seat that was soaked.

But it was just the bottom of the floor and under the drivers seat not the sides of the drivers footwell or anything else just in the bottom.

the floor seamed solid enough. Any ideas?

Cheers

The drainage holes are probably blocked (located behind each seatbelt pillar at the edge of the parcel shelf), meaning water is running down. It's not a big deal IMHO, and not worth walking away from a car over, unless it's rusty, mouldy and generally showing signs of neglect. Mine had a wet driver's carpet once, I dried it out and shoved a stick down the drainage holes and it's been dry as a bone since smile

Thanks - this makes good news!

The car mechanically is perfect, and bodywork etc is good, with receipt for a recent new hood.

Just the drivers floor. Soaked. And only the floor, not the sill walls, behind the pedals or anything, nor the rearbulkhead etc. Just the floor.

Thanks again. Maybe worth another look then!

If it has a new hood it might not be the drain-tubes, they might have cracked the rain-rail around the back of the hood (it's easy to break).

If this would the back wall not be wet as well?

It was very weird how it just seemed to effect the bottom of the drivers well and back under the seat but none of the side walls.

Right then i've found out where its coming from!!!

Undeerneath the car there are what appear to be 4 circular sort of things. Two on either side, i think they may be where the drainage things come out.

They have a sort of gromit/rivet in the centre.

Anyway one of these underneath the drivers seat has it appear been pushed back up. I can still move the disc around with my fingers but can't get it to drop back into place.

I'm assuming fairly simple job - remove drivers seat, lift carpet, reseal / weld disc back into place - water stops coming in???

I'm hoping so anyway.... I bought the car!!!!!

Pics will follow....
