I managed to get 39.7 mpg out of my 1.6 mk1 when I first got it, and that was commuting to work on A and B roads in traffic, so I was pretty pleased. Don't think my current one is getting close to that though - decat + twin exhaust = heavy right foot!

I think that the heavy foot is the main offender. Tis fun though.

Mines only ever been used for track days and 'spirited' road driving so it's averaging around about 20mpg
