Hi guys / gals,

Sorry to post a thread like this, but due to a change in circumstances I may need to think about selling the 5. I'm faced with the prospect of driving around 70 miles a day for a new job and I'm not sure I can financially justify using the 5 over something more suitable.

So I'm looking for a bit of advice about what price to pitch the car at. Any opinions are welcome. Here are some details:

1994 1.8 Eunos Roadster (112,000 km on the clock with all belts recently changed)
BEGI Turbo Kit consisting of:
BEGI Cast Iron Direct Pulse T25/28 Manifold
Garrett GT2554 turbo with braided hoses for oil & water
BEGI Stainless Heatshield
BEGI Coolant Re-route
BEGI Front Mount Intercooler
BEGI Seperated Gases Stainless Downpipe
XS Speed 2.5" Stainless Exhaust with 4" Exit
Stainless Steel 2.5" Decat
6 puck paddle clutch rated to ~320hp / 300lb ft torque
Innovate Motorsports LC1 Wideband Controller
Innovate Motorsports Wideband Digital Gauge
Turbo XS Knocklite
Megasquirt PNP 94-95 with Highes 10g firmware
RC Engineering 550cc Injectors
GM Boost Control Solenoid
NGK BRK7E Spark Plugs
IAT Sensor to remove MAF sensor
Top Engine Strut Brace
Watanabe F8F 15" Alloys
4 x new Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 Tyres
Bridgestone Potenza Superstreet Pro suspension
Goodridge Braided Brake Hoses
Mintex Extreme Pads
Carbing Stainless Roll Bar
Leather / Alcantara S2 Lotus Elise seats
Usual bits of interior bling, Chrome heater vent surrounds, kick plates, new leather gear gaitor & metal gearknob.
New Pioneer MP3 Headunit with iPod interface
Forgot to mention it has had a new vinyl roof fitted in the last year by Richard Nichol of http://www.mx5scotland.com/

Bad bits:

The paintwork of the whole car is a bit tired and could ideally do with a blowover. It's nowhere near disasterous and the car is presentable, but I'm just a bit fussy with things like that. I'm not sure whether it'd be a good idea to get this done to increase the resale price, or leave the choice to the new owner.

So, how much is reasonable?

Here are a few pictures.

Hi mate, sorry to see you're selling such a nice car. As is always the way with these things, if it's money you're after, you'll do better to break the car and sell the parts. The BEGI kits are quite sought after, and you'll probably get at least 1k for that, if not more (GReddy kits sell used for $500+).

As a complete car, obviously it's worth whatever someone will pay for it, but I think £3k is a fair price, purely because there are a lot of FI'd 5s on the market at the moment. You could spend a couple of hundred quid on a professional valet and make maybe another £500 on the overall price. Realistically, it might only fetch £2.5k in todays economic climate. I know it's not what you wanted to hear, but I've seen the price of my car drop by a third since the recession hit, and I could make back the £3k just by selling the parts, but only probably sell the car for £1200 in it's current state. If you can, I'd keep it.

Surely it's worth more than 3k? From looking at the classifieds I reckon I ought to be able to get 2k+ for my 94 1.8 with low miles... (if they are actually selling at the moment).

What power is it?

6 months ago, a car like this wouldn't have struggled to fetch 5k, but in a market where you can buy an E36 M3 for £3k, and one which is saturated with MX5s, the prices are at rock bottom.

Thanks for the opinions. I've noticed the other FI'd 5's are usually cheaper kits. Its not often a car with a good setup like Flyin Miata or BEGI comes up for sale. To answer the question, its ~250bhp @ Flywheel.

You seem to be canvassing opinions of all over the place. If you have a figure in mind advertise it and see what happens.

Black Bullet was advertised for £6k with no takers. My 1.6 Greddy was advertised initially at £4k, but only garnered interest when I reduced the price to £3k. KFC's 1.8 BBR Turbo was advertised for £5k with no takers. There are FMII's that are not selling, so a Begi is likely to be in the same boat - few buyers and many sellers.

The difficulty in selling tricked up MX5's is that one starts to encroach on other cars like M3's, Mk2, S2k etc etc.

Good luck with it
