You can use any oil - even veggie oil if you like though that might not last very long. Gearbox oil is a good choice though.
And yes you have a dif. Every car has a dif wink
I thought I did, was just having a funny 5mins when I posted that!

Better order some bits today then
And as ever, please please please make sure you can get the refilling bolt off before undoing the drainage one! wink
I'm guessing there is no 'technical' reason for doing this way apart from the fact that if you drain and then can't get the refilling bolt off to refill it you're stuffed? hehe

Yup = very effective way of immobilising your car! The Diff nut on mine was a complete b!tch = had to rely on a friend with a lift and a breaker-bar..

That item worked for me when changing the turret oil. My old oil was quite thick, so adding some new oil first made it easier to draw through.

Can I use a jiggle syphon? That seems to be the only one that Halfords has in stock?

I wouldn't sweat it mate: at the end of the day, you could prolly remove the turret oil with absorbent toilet paper if you needed-to = there's not v. much oil in there after all..

FYI I have one these for this sort of job:

I'm more worried about getting the oil back in the gearbox itself!

Yeah then you will be wanting something more effective than bog roll for that, apols. wink

The above kit from Demon Tweeks would do the job. I take it your gear oil of choice doesn't come equipped with a handy/long spout then.
