I have seen people fit them either in front of or behind the std Mk1 1.8 brace.

I fitted mine instead of the std brace in my Mk1.

You will note the Mk2 has this instead of that brace so I presume it serves the same function unless the Mk2 design has added strength in that area (I'm unaware of any such change).

Certainly I didn't notice any change when I replaced my brace with the windblocker.

Did the Mk2.5 seats need much alteration to fit in?

I can't remember but I think the rails may have been swapped over.

BUT you do sit higher in them.

The further back you put it the less effect it will have.
