Old headlight covers/tops (not plastic covers) are rubbing bonnet and bit of bend in one due to me fitting new lamps last year. Just got a pair of black headlight tops off ebay for £30 inc del. Can someone please tell me how on earth I can get these headlights aligned with the bonnet correctly doing it by myself. How do I take off the headlight tops also?

Pop the lights up , remove the 2 screws holding the plastic trim on around the headlight , then there are 4 10mm bolts holding the lid to the pop up frame , remove them and bolt on the new lid , the lids are adjustable so you can get them aligned up before bolting them tight .

As above but if they are really badly aligned there are 3 nuts that hold the entire H light assembly to the body and have adjustment in them too (slotted holes)

some pictures would help me to align the lights up, the corners are rubbing slightly on bonnet.

If they are not too badly out of line you could gently pull them into shape. I did this with mine. Be careful though.

Have tried that, no luck, want to get them flush before fitting new lids.
Help! What screws do I have to undo to move the whole headlight. Not the lamp, I mean the whole unit is out of line with bonnet and the other side too.

On the passenger side its the curved corner hitting the bonnet and on the drivers side its the lower pointed corner neareast to the badge on the bonnet.

You'll need to look for the three bolts that hold the headlight assembly in place. Two are in the form of threads that 'come up out of the floor' as it were, with nuts on top. One is underneath the lamp itself, while the other is located at the back of the h/light unit frame, behind the motor etc. The third bolt is on the outside of the lamp (i.e. towards the closest side of the car), and is perpendicular to the bonnet floor. To make the nut easier to get to, I recommend removing the plastic coolant tank first. In truth that third bolt should be the least likely to need adjusting by the sounds of your problem, but you'll probably need to loosen it off slightly while you're adjusting the other two anyway.

My bet would be that it's just the lid that needs adjusting. The headlights are fairly firmly mounted so I can't see that needing adjustment unless it's had a bash.
